Beatrix - River North
Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night offerings, as well as brunch on Saturday and Sundays.
All pastries, breads and sweets are baked in house daily. Some of our favorites include Sadie's Crunch Cake, Honey Butter Cinnamon Buns and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Our coffee and tea program will showcase two iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligensia and Metropolis and specialty offerings like Nitro, Bulletproof, and more!
What Insiders Are Saying
More comfortable than a MINI Cooper, Beatrix is a casual and versatile restaurant in River North.
A friend recommended this restaurant to me. I was afraid it was going to be too loud but it wasn’t. We went there after graduation and found it to be wonderful. We had brunch and everyone enjoyed their meals. We thought the brown sugar bacon would be better but it didn’t really live up to its description. Our waiter was the best! He occasionally checked on us and was not overbearing I would love to have him every time we visit.
Awesome food and beverages - great atmosphere!
As usual, Beatrix was a great dinner. Entree was a bit salty, but besides that, perfect.
We selected Beatrix when we were in town for our anniversary. We enjoyed the atmosphere & the food was great! The kids menu was awesome & a great price. The service we had was average. The biggest disappointment was that the bottle of wine we ordered was served at a warmer than average temp. We told the waitress and she offered free dessert. However, we didn’t finish the wine as it was so warm and unenjoyable. Very disappointing for a $45 bottle. Overall, I’d recommend it for a fun dinner out but not a special occasion.
Great food and atmosphere but the service was slow. Think they might have had a bunch of trainees this time. It’s usually not that bad. Make sure you have a reservation or else the wait could be long.
We are on a trip to Chicago, so I guess almost every dinner is a special occasion. Every item we selected from the menu was excellent. We will be back! Service was attentive also with good advice too on choices.
Every experience at Beatrix is a good one! Service is wonderful & friendly. Food is always incredible. Ambience is perfect.
amazing brunch as always, great coffee and ambiance.
Great food, relaxed environment, budget-friendly.
We enjoyed some apps to start, split a salad and really enjoyed the entrées. The skirt steak will definitely be on my to do dining agenda on my next trip to Chicago.
This experience was a VERY pleasant surprise as a prelude to seeing HAMILTON for the first time. Great start to a great evening.
I continue to enjoy Beatrix - it's a great restaurant!
Love the lemon pancakes!
Great dinner and loved the dessert. Definitely get the beets!
I made a reservation for myself and 2 friends visiting from out of town. One is a vegetarian and the other is celiac. Our server, Eduardo was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the items on the menu that were ok for her to eat. When I ordered a glass of wine he made an excellent recommendation based on what I requested and he never made us feel like we were high maintenance for asking questions.
Our meal was delicious and there was even a gluten free chocolate cake! The caramel pie is out of this world - not gluten free, but vegetarian :)
Excellent food that is unique. A bit noisy but worth the visit.
A good meal was marred by a very poor waitress whose lack of training was not what we would expect at Beatrix . From not greeting us when she arrived to our table, rushing us to order when we were first seated, not seeming to be able to comprehend our order, Mis stating what was available on the pastry front ( we always start with coffee and a pastry before ordering breakfast& I checked the options out when we left) , putting an unwrapped straw on the table versus handing it to us, leaving used serving plates on the table for the majority of the meal , she could have ruined our experience but we couldn’t let that happen as we come here almost weekly . The food was the usual good quality , yes we will return but not with that waitress!
The breakfast selections are amazing. Whenever I'm in Chicago I always try to go to Beatrix for breakfast.
I love the lemon pancakes and my husband loves the egg white omelet, as well as the pastries.
Always an excellent choice for breakfast.
The food is good. Our server pretty much ignored us, which is not cool.
The restrooms are part of the lobby to the adjoining ALOFT Hotel and they are some of the most revolting I've seen at restaurants in River North. Half of the toilets overflowing. Water all over the sink & floors. Lack of toilet paper. Frankly it ruined the meal. If Beatrix customers need to use these restrooms, then Beatrix needs to keep them clean to Lettuce Entertain You's standards.
Food was fairly good, although not outstanding. Service was slow, and we had CSO tickets: Had a 6PM reservation for 2, out the door at 7:40. Noisy, casual, but a nice open feel with the doors open to outside seating.
Great meal, drinks and great service!! We’ll be back!
We always appreciate the quality of the food at Beatrix, and it is a regular go-to restaurant when we have visitors in town. We had lunch of a variety of salads, the brunch enchiladas, and quinoa cakes...oh, and you MUST start with an order of Kennebec fries with sliced lemons and peppers that are fried as well. The spicy bloody mary with maple bacon is REALLY spicy - I'm very tolerant, but this was spiced out of enjoyment for me. But the other cocktails and wine enjoyed at our table were delightful. We stopped at the bakery counter for a mix of cookies and muffin-sized angel food cakes to enjoy later. It was a great experience and worth our wait for a table for 5.
Outstanding service! Amazing food! Bloody Mary, avocado toast, spicy chicken tinga and tuna poke were all delicious!! I wish I could remember our servers name because he completed the whole experience. Highly recommend!
Always enjoy this place! I usually go for lunch which is amazing but this was my first dinner experience and it was phenomenal :) Definitely recommend for date nights and office lunches!
30th Birthday!! Our waiter was amazing and so was our food!
Hit up the snack menu. Brussels sprouts amazing!!
Make a reservation for breakfast or get there before 8:15 am. Quite the hot spot for local yuppies and tourists alike. But so worth it!!! Fantastic pastries, healthy breakfasts and hip veggie coolers to go. Definitely go there!
Went for brunch for a friend’s birthday and they brought out a complimentary cinnamon roll with a candle! Great service and food.
Generally the food was good. The chipotle salmon was tasty but could have more interesting accompaniments. Our waitress had great recommendations but then she was too busy or forgetful. One entree was cold so another staff member was waved down and he took great care of the problem and got me my glass of wine I requested earlier. As a kudo, our waitress sent us home with two muffins for breakfast the next day.
Great food and friendly service at reasonable price!
great options of food/drinks. amazing food and service. also lovely patio!
Great place for breakfast or brunch. We were there early and it was already quite busy. Liked all the healthy menu options that were inventive and full of flavor. Definitely would recommend.
Waited 45 minutes and paid $25 for an entree that was neither memorable nor filling.
Superior service! Our server (wish I remembered his name!) was very attentive and helped us have an enjoyable experience. The restaurant was clearly busy, but we didn't feel rushed to finish - we were able to take our time and enjoy every delicious bite.
I had the waffle’s with strawberries and whipped cream! It was delicious! My friend had the tuna poke. It was really good as well. Great flavors! Our cappuccino’s were very tasty as well!
Good brunch option in River North. Menu suits many tastes and the it's a good atmosphere
Great food, energetic atmosphere, good cocktails
The menu was able to accommodate our vegetarian friend well. The food was fantastic and the waiter was awesome.
They ran out of the special and we were not able to add 1 more person onto our reservation. The service was slow but the ambiance was nice. Disappointed that they dont have coffee or pastries on the actual sit down menu.
Dank food, good cocktails, delicious dough, nice service, vibin’ music
A chaotic restaurant where you need to make a reservation, even for breakfast! Without a reservation, you may have to wait for a table even if 25% of the tables are vacant as they are being held for folks with reservations. Not exactly efficient, but that's how it is. Food was good and the server was very nice, however. But if you're looking to relax, look elsewhere.
