We’ve been dining here since it opened and thought it was the best restaurant in St Pete. Not anymore. The chef must have changed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, it’s just that there are now other places that are better. It’s so loud in there that it’s difficult to talk to your guests during dinner.
Felt the prive paid was a bit too high for the wuality of food. Meal was just ok.
IT WAS MOTHERS DAY AND I WAS THERE WITH MY DAUGHTER.
WE HAD A WONDERFUL DINNER AND GOOD SERVICE.
A VERY NICE MOTHERS DAY.
We visited for mothers day brunch and the overall experience was fair/good. The server missed the mark with a lot of little things - we ordered coffee, there was no sugar or spoons. We ordered an appetizer and no side plates (or any plates whatsoever) were provided. We ordered wine and they forgot to deliver. They cleared some of the flatware (particularly knives) after our app, and then didn't replace before entrees came so we had to keep consistently asking for knives, plates, sugar, spoons. The server seemed caught up and busy, so overall the service just wasn't great. My aunt ordered the shrimp and grits for $14 and there were 6 small shrimp and a lot of grits. Just seemed overpriced for what you actually received. I would not recommend this to anyone, there are far better restaurants in the vicinity.
A $30 automatic gratuity for a party of 3 at a self-serve buffer seems a bit much, but I would not have mentioned if our drinks orders were not forgotten two out of three times... and that includes the order when we were first seated. Its not that the waiter was not working hard, he was, but just not at providing service for our table.
Food was good, but at $55 plus $10 gratuity per person plus parking and friendly, but poor service, I will go elsewhere in the future.
Wonderful experience and our server Sarah was great!
Servers are wonderful, good food consistently. Some issues with reservations this visit and hosts could be a bit warmer.
Another great meal at what has to be the best value in St. Petersburg on Tuesday nights. Both the wonderful sommelier, who, once again, suggested an interesting wine of excellent value, and Miko (spelling?) were terrific. I can hardly wait for another Tuesday night there, when we will ask Miko about his trip to the Indian Mounds on Pinellas Point Drive South.
fantastic restaurant. I will definitely return. great service
Enjoyable birthday spot.
Birch & Vine is on my restaurant rotation list, the food and the service are always good. Their outdoor seating is really nice and comfortable. The only downside it the bread, I would think that with the quality of food, great wine list and such that something as simple as bread would be better than a store bought roll. I will continue to keep them on the list but would like to see them step up the bread.
we were there for a special occasion and although the service was great, it was slower than I would have preferred. The food was very middle of the road, certainly not what I expected for the price. Spinach/strawberry salad was full of spinach very little else. other items, most enjoyed, just was hoping for fabulous based on what others had "heard" about the location.
Overall good. Initially we walked into the restaurant reception and was told we had to go outside and check in at podium there. When we did that, the team outside said we had to go inside to check in for our reservation. Seeing our frustration, the hostess outside said “I’ll just do it”.
So not very organized from the get go. However the meal and ambiance made up for that. Our server was a little stoic and dint have much of a personality, but it wasn’t anything that ruined the experience.
Our group thinks this is best restaurant on Beach Drive, excellent service, beautiful decor and creative cuisine. Food was good but professional waitstaff is best in area.
Fantastic meal at the Birch, the best Steak in the Tampa Bay Area which is saying something because there are so many great steak houses. Service was great in a really nice casual setting. Would recommend going after 7 as we went 6 and was very quiet until around 7. Depends what you are looking for.
Server Alexia was a gem. Location is also excellent; just a short distance away from the inner harbour. That brought back memories of anchoring our sailboat in the inner harbour for the night.
Excellent venue for business lunch, date night and the like. This is a beautiful restaurant with a versatile menu and excellent service. We were seated in a private room and the staff really took great care of us. This was a business lunch but I will be back for date night!
Our server, Valentina, was OUTSTANDING. We had such a pleasant evening, w superb service and food. Thank you! We will be back.
Everything was great!
On vacation we had dinner here and as usual the food was excellent and the service was attentive. We sat outside in a pleasant night. We have been to this restaurant a few times in the past 4 years and it has always lived up to expectations.
Terrific options for all sorts of food tastes. Could use a better non-chardonnay white wine selection.
amazing as always
I think our waiter was intoxicated. He stood watching while his boss cleared plates and retrieved forgotten drink orders. Food was great! Our initial reservation (which was for outdoor seating for 5) was interpreted as Private and quiet area for which they had reserved a private room - go figure.
I gave this place 3 stars for food because it was good but nothing special as we thought it would be. I would go back for the outdoor seating and the wait staff was great. Might do drinks and apps next time.
Great food. Attentive service. Great people watching. A bit loud, but they turned the music down when we asked. Would definitely go back!
The food and service were excellent. It was a Saturday and the noise and energy levels were high. We probably preferred the dinner we had there on a previous Sunday -- much more laid back.
Upscale restaurant with a fun atmosphere. Service was excellent. Seated exactly at our reservation time on a Saturday night. I hear they have a new executive chef. Cannot wait to try his new additions to the menu.
We were in St. Pete for the weekend and staying nearby so this seemed like a good choice. They have a tremendous wine list. The food was pretty good, but nothing was great. The calamari would have been better without the sauce. The scallops were quite good. The dessert, bananas foster, was flambeed at the table but the bananas were not cooked - not sure how the flame could have caramelized them before the ice cream was completely melted.
Our second visit and it was a great experience. Our waiter Dean was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great suggestions. He was attentive and personable. He definitely added to our enjoyment!
Weekend get away
Came for Easter breakfast; server was attentive and very sweet. The food was all excellent, and we rounded off our day with some wine in the Canopy -- which was fabulous - the views were outstanding that day and it was not as busy as normal -- very nice.
Not sure what has happened to this place, but it used to be decent and relatively consistent. However, our most recent visits have been consistently disappointing. Seems like they have changed the menu, dishes are lackluster, and service could be better. Our last visit was for brunch on Easter... some of the issues included entrees coming before appetizer, the pork belly with "fried potatoes" was dried out pork served over way too many, very salty (probably frozen) tater tots, a fried egg, which was fine, and gravy that was way to thick. The dish sounded much better on the menu but did not come together at all. The other dishes (chicken and waffles which had an over-boiled egg) and BV benedict were serviceable but not great either. Won't be going back anytime soon...
Servers were not very knowledgeable about the menu. The quality of food was less than good with multiple dishes. One dish wasn’t prepared at all until after everyone else in the party was finished. Definitely not a good value. Will not be back.
disappointed in the presentation and taste of the food. We ordered Filet mignon with an Au Poivre sauce, and the sauce was not what anyone with a palate would consider as an "au poivre" sauce. not peppery at all. then, they served it on a plate and then threw rutabaga fries around the plate , reminded me of a steak and shake presentation. This is the first time the food has disappointed. hopefully it is not a trend.
Great experience!!!! Wonderful service, excellent food !!!!
At first everything seemed great. Then it took a very long time to get the app that was ordered right away. Then the soup of the day changed and several guest needed to change their order. Then the meals took too long. We spent over three hours for the entire meal (we skipped desserts). Then to top it all off the valet was way behind. We stood in line for 30 minutes to get our car dropped off at the alley down the road. Very unprofessional.
Great food and service but way too noisy. Had to talk over noise to my husband.
