Bud & Marilyn's
The comfortable dining room seats up to 100. The Mid-century modern design evokes the feeling of an updated rec room from the 1970's and features vintage American flea market finds from all over the country. Table seating, bar seating and chef's counter seating are available.
Bud & Marilyn's is located in the heart of center city at the corner of 13th & Locust Street in the bustling Midtown Village neighborhood.
Ordered the Seared Scallops, which is a house specialty, and they were delicious. My server, Len, was exceptional and really set the course of the dinner with his knowledge of the food and beverage pairings. The setting was also comfortable and relaxed, a nice calming atmosphere that shields you from the hustle of the downtown.
As usual a great experience. Our server convinced me to try something other than my usual (i always go for the fried chicken - coz it is awesome). So i had a great meal, with a good selection of beers. All good.
Great food, great service. Not an overwhelming menu, but enough choices across all sections to make everyone happy. We got a few apps, including a round of buttered buns for everyone at the table. The Nashville Hot Chicken buns, to be specific. GREAT way to get started. Chicken was tender and juicy, excellent flavor, spicy but not just heat for the sake of heat. Entrees were all good sized and very flavorful. I think for me the best surprise was desert. I wish I was told to not fill up and to save room. We got a slice of cake for the table of 5, it was HUGE, and even better, it was incredibly tasty. Chocolate cake, with icing, fudge, and peanut butter malted milk balls, yet somehow was not overly sweet. The perfect ending to an outstanding meal. Go there. Go now. If they aren't open as you are reading this, go there and wait for them to open. You won't be disappointed.
Delicious brunch. The Banana French Toast was ridiculously good. Bacon, home fries, scrapple were all really really good, too. Would definitely go back!
Always great to be here and enjoy the amazing food they provide!
Delicious food as always. Attentive service. The portions are not too small and not huge. Love it here!!
Both my arctic char and my husband’s skirt steak entrees were extremely salty, the fish almost inedibly so, and we’re not people who mind salt (it’s delicious!). Otherwise flavors were great, so it was unfortunate. We enjoyed the ambiance and service, but had higher hopes for the food. I’d return for drinks/snacks, but probably not for dinner.
Where do I start? We came for a belated 10th anniversary dinner (which was remembered and acknowledge with a free desert by our phenomenal server, Jeannie). We were seated right at 7:30, per our reservations. We sat at the Chef's counter which allowed us to actually hear each other sitting side by side (it is noisy!) and watch the kitchen and pastry chefs at work-so fun!
The kitchen was busy and it took about twenty minutes for our appatizer to arrive. We enjoyed the bber selection and the wine by the glass was reasonable. We started with the Curry Coconut Mussels which was fanatastis, and both ordered the Fried Chicken entree. The biscuits were the best we've ever eaten, and the chicken was delicious. The service was excellent. Would definately return next time we are in Philly!
Our second visit. Love the food, service and devote. A little loud, but it was a Saturday night and full house, so it wasn't a bother. We shall return.
The noise level made it hard to talk. Food came out so quick we didn’t get to socialize much. Food was excellent as was service.
The food was excellent. We highly recommend the fried chicken and the curry mussels. Our salted Carmel ice cream dessert was heavenly. We also want to give a shout out for the service. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful when we asked for food suggestions. Overall, a great eating experience.
Best fried chicken ever! Service is always great, and it shows that everyone takes great pride in the place!
Our third time at Bud & Marilyns - noise level was higher than ever before. Service was good. Food was ok, not great. Brick chicken was a bit dry, especially the breast. Will return but I hope the quality is higher when we go back.
Nice place, and actually fairly reasonable for that part of the city. There is parking across the street and around the corner. Food is nothing fancy, but the quality is good.
The food was very good. The atmosphere was fun. The service was good. They would do well to provide some more room between tables.
Awesome must dine restaurant in Philadelphia. Great food, drinks and atmosphere.
Scallops were great
Wonderful as always! The food is always spectacular and the staff are wonderful! We love Bud & Marilyns!
Pre-show dining for Broadway show. Seating and service were quick and efficient. Service was great, server had great personality and knew the menu top to bottom - he made excellent recommendations for first time diners. Food was outstanding. At table we had appetizers of cheese plate and cheese curds and main courses of lamb steak, meatloaf, and scallops. Delicious! We will return! Loved the mid-century eclectic homey vibe of decor and space. Can’t go wrong. Bill gets pricy with drinks.
The meatless was delicious along with mashed potatoes and carrots. The scallops were also very good, but it did not come with any sides and there were only three. For that reason it was a bit disappointing for an entree.
The food is good, the portions are enormous, the place is loud! Very loud!!
Fun atmosphere and good service.
The food was delicious! Everything was better then the previous item!!
No appreciation sensed, from host to server, even after the woman that called to confirm our reservation noted we were celebrating a birthday. That celebration was not even acknowledged. Food was average. Upon departure not one of the many employees around the door thanked us for visiting. Likely won’t visit a second time.
Great space and a simple but creative menu with a mix of comfort classics and bold flavors.
The service was excellent and the server was knowledgeable about the menu, even making recommendations when asked. The quality of the food was very good and is consistently always very good. I have eaten here many times and will continue to return.
Excellent food and retro vibe!
GREAT PLACE WILL BE BACK THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday brunch was delicious- I'll be dreaming of that giant cinnamon bun...
Excellent food and service! Highly recommended!
Excellent food and excellent service - highly recommend - lamb was amazing and the best fried chicken I have ever had.
Great experience overall! They care about their customers and their food, and it shows! We'll be back.
Love it...food was great. Get the cinnamon bun delicious!
We had a large party of ten for brunch. Staff were above and beyond accommodating when some of our party was late. We never felt awkward or rushed which can sometimes happen in this situation. Food was wonderful -all our out of town guests loved it!
Cocktails were great and big pours. Appetizers -- cheese curds and cinnamon roll were amazing. Entre was great too. Will be back for sure !!
Great food, service and quick seating! Best fried chicken around! Local craft beers were fantastic!
An overall 4 out of 5. Food and service is always good though feel the menu could use a little change up. Unfortunately for me, the noise level is always a problem: I cannot hear who I'm sitting across from but do hear every word from the table of 4 next to me because they're trying to talk above the noise.
The salad was over seasoned to the point of being inedible. The entrees were mediocre. The noise level was high making conversation difficult. This might have been a bad night for them.
The wait staff that great and helped us decide on a fun and tasty variety of food to share among 5 people. Love coming here!
Bud & Marilyn's never disappoints! The food, the drinks and the service was excellent, as always.
Service was perfect, great value for the portions.
