Cafe Renaissance is your first choice in
intimate dining. Located in the heart of downtown Vienna, Cafe Renaissance
offers a quiet and charming ambiance
that will complement any lunch or dinner.
I ordered the beer salad that was overdressed with dressing. Arugula not fresh and no pecans. Very disappointing. My husband's filet mignon was perfect. My salmon was okay. Vegetables were good.
a hidden charm - in a strip center, so didn't expect such a lovely interior
place has been there for 25 years! who knew?
service started great and then got slow; food was lovely - tasty and nicely presented
a great find!!
Incredible from the time you enter the doorway until you exit! Highly recommend for any occasion. The food is superb. The service is the best around! The ambiance cannot be beat!
Outstanding experience. Very European in approach. Go to spend time and enjoy your dining experience. Don’t go if you’re looking for a quick meal. Take your spouse on date night and mellow. Great for an anniversary.
As always Cafe Renaissance is an enjoyable, comfortable restaurant. Food is solid and delicious, service attentive. Chef and management keep in touch with diners to assure their enjoyment. Never disappointed in dining here.
We've been happy whenever we've eaten at this small, elegant restaurant. Staff seems to go out of their way to make diners feel welcome and well cared for. Service is careful. Food is nicely presented. My filet mignon was generous; my husband was happy with his rack of lamb. We both enjoyed our onion soups.
What a great find! We were visiting a friend who lives in Vienna but who suggested that perhaps we look at Tyson's since there weren't many good choices in Vienna. Au contraire! Tucked away in a relatively obscure shopping center, this gem proved to be everything we could have hoped for. We were warmly greeted by the owner and EVERY staff member, served a wonderful meal, and allowed to enjoy our company without feeling rushed or pestered.
One more comment about the hospitable staff - each one, including the chef, took the time to speak to us. And every table was treated as if it were the only one in the room. I cannot overstate the generosity of spirit this team shares with every diner.
...oh, and the food and the wine were wonderful too!
We always love coming to Cafe Renaissance. The personalized service is second to none. The chef, waiters and staff always remember us and make us feel at home.
Wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary. You feel as thought you have all the time in the world, nothing is rushed. The food was excellent—the butternut squash soup was superb, large glasses of wine. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
We celebrated our 40th Anniversary there on a Sunday night. It's a cozy intimate setting. The staff is extremely friendly and gregarious. Our meal was outstanding. I had squash and sweet potato soup = superb; and Dover Sole which was also excellent. Salad and salmon also excellent. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion for fine dining, especially a special occasion.
It's always a lovely dining experience at Cafe Renaissance!
The halibut with scallop almandine was super delicious. However, the Caesar salad was not so good - the romaine was rusty and past it’s prime - don’t know how that got passed. This is the 3rd time I’ve eaten here. Even if the salad was not good this time, the entrees have consistently been awesome and well prepared.
First time at Cafe Renaissance was a wonderful experience - food, service, atmosphere. We hoped the second time would be similar. We booked a table for 4, but the morning of the reservation, two more wanted to go. I called the restaurant, and they said it was a busy night, but they could do it. We arrived, and found out it was a "wine night", with a crowded group of enthusiasts and tastings and presentations. Our table was in a side room, but the servers were attentive, the wine "presenter" came and talked to us (we got a sip of one of the wines) and our night began. We were not disappointed; in fact, it exceeded our great experience previously. Cafe Renaissance is a jewel in the DC area (VIenna), and we now have 6 people planning a visit the next time in DC.
The food was excellent, my wife had the angel hair pasta with seafood, and I had the lamb shank with risotto.
Service was attentive, and prompt. The owner was very nice, he came by the table and even made our cherries jubilee table side.
We had a great time
Nestled in a non-descript shopping center in Vienna, Café Renaissance is a surprise. Going there is like taking a trip to France without the jet lag. The food is magnificently and creatively prepared. Saeed, the owner, and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Osheen is an artist as chef. And it is clear they all love to give their best. Over the years as we've taken friends there we've found they've always gone back, particularly for a special occasion, in part to show others their great find.
The cocktails were delicious and generously sized.
The French onion soup was delicious. The snails were redolent of oil--and not a good, fruity olive oil, but more like cooking oil--and did not taste at all of butter or brandy, but mostly parsley.
The dressing on the beet salad was bitter.
The protein in the salmon crab special was delicious, but the accoutrements were mystifying. A baked tomato covered in red sauce. Three overcooked asparagus. A potato duchesse (I think--it seemed piped) that was tasty on top but inedible on the bottom, where it was burnt through and could not be cut with even a knife. But the main fault was the muddy, tasteless rice and bean mixture under the salmon. It was unpleasant.
One entree was listed as served with "scallops." Chef came into the dining room to tell our guest that he was out of scallops, and would substitute shrimp. My guest agreed. When his entree arrived, it had one shrimp on top.
When my friend requested a glass of white wine, without choice or explanation, the captain poured, from a screwtop wine bottle, short pours into our wineglasses.
At one point, one of the many servers reprimanded a server who had come to refill our water glasses. We are not sure what went wrong. There are many servers to your table, and they were not organized. We waited a very long time for our entrees though my husband noted later that others had been served long before us. I did not notice that at the time.
We were served complimentary desserts, which was a nice touch.
We were celebrating our child’s caregiver one year anniversary with us and they all kicked it up a notch with food, wine and the caring waitstaff. Even our girl had a great time.
I hesitated to do this review because it may cause me to not get the reservation I desire in the future!
Love this place. Great food (Chef will prepare anything you desire) and they make dessert soufflés, bananas foster, cherries jubilee and an amazing table-side Irish coffee.
If you haven’t dined here, treat yourself. It’s the “jewel of northern Virginia!
As always, Cafe Renaissance succeeds in delivering excellence, in all categories. If I could go every day, I would.
Reminiscent of dining in a Parisian upscale neighborhood dining establishment. A spectacular dining experience for those who expect outstanding food and great service.
We had a wonderful 30th anniversary celebration. The food was great, the service impeccable and the ambience special but not stuffy. Recommend it highly!!
It is always a wonderful evening and outstanding dinner at Café R.
We are frequent (2-5 times a year) visitors to Cafe Renaissance. The food is always delightful and the staff is attentive. It is a small quiet restaurant which is good for a romantic dinner or just a nice conversation with friends.
If you go for the wine tasting pairing dinner, be sure to have a designated driver as they are generous with the tastings!
It was my husband and I first time. We were celebrating his birthday and a date night. I let the restaurant know ahead of time of the occasion. When we got there, they gave us a table with a vase filled with natural flowers. They welcomed us in an extra special way. The chef came and sat with us and recommended couple of dishes (he does that with all the customers it seems). The food was very good. Then they got us a plate of 3 mini desserts on the house with a candle. They sang happy birthday. It was a lovely evening.
We had a lovely celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. Highly recommend for special occasions, dates, and brunch.
The service was great but I was disappointed that I found the hair in my entree...
Prices are a little high for lunch but normal for dinner. They vary from about $18-$30 a plate for an entree. The service was great and the waiter was really
The experience was wonderful. We dine here for all of our special occasions. The food was great. The chef has such a special way of preparing the food and takes great pride in the dishes. The restaurant is so beautiful the owner is so gracious and friendly. The Nougat Glace’ is out of this world!
Amazing staff amazing service !
Best restaurant for dates and business in virginia
OpenTable would not allow a reservation for 1. Though I knew where and when I wanted to eat. And I spent enough for two anyway. Great fallback restaurant, if you can get in.
My wife and I had an early anniversary, and we wanted to try something new. We really enjoyed this place, and ate something from every course.
We are regulars at Cafe Renaissance because of their excellent food. However our last visit was a particular treat because they have introduced a new dessert menu. We were given a sampler. They have a nougat glacé with meringue and pistachios which was spectacular and unusual. The raspberry bomber was great. Looking forward to trying out more of the new desserts.
Always a special treat. The food, service, and hospitality are outstanding!
Our group of four enjoyed the fish and veal they ordered for mains, and we all had excellent salads for starters. Two of us shared chateaubriand which was good but lacked a desired level of taste and tenderness. The atmosphere and service were also very good. A local gem worthy of returned visits.
Traditional French menu items. Attentive waiters in tuxedos. Decor from Belle Époque Paris. Classic or dated? It’s for you to decide.
We have been to Cafe Renaissance several times and it never disappoints. The service is excellent, and the food is superb. I had pompano almandine and my husband had flounder topped with crabmeat. We finished our meal with Irish coffee, which was prepared right at our table. So much fun to watch!
It's becoming rare to find a local dining establishment that still has tablecloths, great food, and good service. Unlike some steak houses where you have to shout to be heard across the table, this place is quiet enough to carry on a civilized conversation at whisperable levels. The menu (not too small and not too large) has such a selection of goodies that one must come back to try other delicacies. Narrowing the choices is tough. However, a default desert must be one of their souffles. They just evaporate in one's mouth. Amazing! Regrettably, a tad bit pricey for the common man to visit on a weekly basis.
Delicious food in an elegant classic environment, surprisingly located in a strip mall location. A real gem.
I found this restaurant online and was able to get a reservation for two at the last minute. I was pleasantly pleased with the food, the service, and at the ambience.
