Great food, great service, comfortable surroundings!
Food was very good. Steak and fish were both excellent.
Crowd is lively and "vibe" is good.
No complaints on anything really, except price. It is expensive.
Service was spot on! We had a party of 8 and couldn’t have had a better time. Great food, wine, and atmosphere!
We celebrated our anniversary and the atmosphere was exceptional. Our server Machela was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was appetizing and presented well. One small drawback was limited lighting to read the menu. I recommend this restaurant!
Second visit and it will be our last. Our first visit was mediocre but wanted to give it a second try. The truffled burrata was amazing, but everything that followed was again mediocre. The wine glass broke in my friend's hand and wine spilled all over her pashmina. The only customer service was that soda water was offered for her clean it in the bathroom. No offer to have it dry cleaned or even replace her pashmina (which by the way is ruined). Our proteins were boring and the carmelized brussel sprouts were barely cooked. Left very disappointed.
I was really excited to try this place out following a friends recommendation. We had a nice large table in the back of the restaurant for our party of 6 with lots of room to spread out and it felt private, but sadly we also felt forgotten. It took nearly 10 minutes after being seated for the server to ask for a drink order, then again we waited for them to be delivered because the bartender was behind. Drinks were good, especially the aviation, although it was served differently at the table from the first one while we were seated at the bar. The oysters were definitely a hit off the apps menu. The burata was also quite good. No one at the table raved about their entrees and they were out of the sea bass, the fish they recommended instead was dry and just ok. Other than the pomme frites which were crispy and came with this delicious mustard sauce, the sides were bland and forgettable. Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: service delays and hefty price
It was a wonderful experience! Thank you Cape Duth, the chef and the staff!
Forever grateful with all of you!
Wonderful NYE at Cape Dutch! Such a gorgeous restaurant (with equally impressive food)!!
Overall our group had a lovely dinner. I had a mistake and order the Branzino (with it being fileted) and it came with only the head removed. My friend had to litererally gut the entire fish and pull out the meat for me and we had to ask for more plates to cover up the "gutting" pieces of the fish. I had immediately requested to switch to the tenderloin option (it was NYE) with limited options...but our waiter was insisting. To be honest, the two other diners were not impressed with the Branzino either, but everything else we had was amazing. It was just a bad order and after trying to send it back to change to the filet it was quickly explained that would not be an option.
Love ape Dutch! Chef Philippe Haddad and his team are amazing! The serving staff is lovely and the atmosphere so comfortable! I look forward to our next visit!
Food was great for our celebration dinner. Our server was wonderful.
Solid dining experience. The bar was out of a few items--disappointing.
Saw a review on Atlanta Eats and immediately put it on my list of "Must Dine" and I was impressed with everything. Our server made my daughter and me feel welcomed and comfortable. Some menu items I saw on their website were not available the night we went but the other recommendations were delicious.
We really enjoyed our experience and meal. The fried lobster starter was amazing. All of the food was amazing with the exception of my husband's salad. He had the spinach and arugula salad and it was very lumpy and mushy. Everything else, including the service was great.
Great cuisine and cocktails with a refreshing vibe!
Everything was wonderful from the food to the service. Our favorites were the burrata with truffles, the spinach and arugula salad with goat cheese sorbet(!), pan seared sea bass and the dry aged ribeye. The white chocolate bread pudding for dessert was a great finish. Our server was very attentive and gave us great suggestions. Loved it!
Great food and service.
Love this place. great for special occasions or just a night out. Food is superb. We had a group of 6 and shared the steak and two fish dishes. With a couple of appetizers this was the perfect meal. Fish was delicate and tasty (sea bass & Branzino), and steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, o the rare side. Lots of flavor. And the atmosphere here is killer. I would highly recommend this place.
Loved it. Cape Dutch is the best. Ask for Reggie. He will take care of you.
A meal that cost this much should be outstanding and this, at best, was average I would not return.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful evening, so much so that we intend to host our annual dinner party at Cape Dutch - amazing filet and swordfish.
Thank you Anthony! Awesome service from all the staff that evening.
From the apps of sweet potato, fried lobster and scallops, to the main entrees Seabass, filet, and whole branzino, to amazing berry sorbet to a lovely selection of pinotage, everything about this meal was perfect. Our server, Cord, was colorful and helpful. Big fans!! Already made multiple recommendations to friends visiting. Will be back.
We enjoyed our experience at Cape Dutch. All entrees and sides that were ordered were delicious. I wish the menu had a few more selections it was somewhat limited. The noise level was moderate but closer to a little noisy but we were still able to have a conversation. Service was outstanding. The ambience was comfortable but not very colorful.
This was my first time at Cape Dutch which is a south African steakhouse. The food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional!. We tried the steak, lobster, mushroom pasta and a couple desserts as well and everything was delicious.the restaurant doesn’t get busy till later. There is a really cozy bar and lounge area in the front of the restaurant to get some drinks.
We had a family dinner at the restaurant. We ordered from ravioli to ribeye to lobster. Everything was fantastic and tasty. Service was outstanding. Will definitely go back.
Philippe Hadad has done it again. This place is a winner.
The fish was delicious along with the wine truechard
We were treated with great generosity and hospitality. The food quality, service and ambiance was top notch. Management treated us like family. I would highly recommend.
Hosted a dinner here for work for a group of eight. The service was great, and some of our group had a great time sitting at the bar before dinner too. The server made excellent sharing choices before the meal and all of our meals came out in great time and tasted fantastic. Would definitely use this place again for future dinners.
Whenever I get to Atlanta, Cape Dutch is always on my list. We brought friends and the restaurant did not disappoint. Chef Philippe changes his menu seasonally and we got to taste some new dishes. The mussels and Spinach and Arugula salad are always wonderful starters but we also tries the fried baby lobster tails and the kefta. They were terrific, too! The lobster risotto, short ribs and sea bass are great and you can't go wrong with the elk chop. Very nice dinner!
Everyone from the hostess, bartender, server and even the GM were fabulous! Food was delicious!
Anniversary dinner. Food was great and the staff was outstanding. Definitely will be a return customer
Trendy yet inviting décor, cozy bar and lounge area and expansive dining room. Great menu with a host of items. The whole branzino fish was amazing. The sea bass was good but not great. The panna cotta was excellent. I was hoping for more South African wines on the wine list. Overall, its a great spot for dinner with friends or a date night. I would return.
I look for a different Five Star restaurant every year for our anniversary. There are so many places in town that have exceptional food, but not the five star quality service. Cape Dutch DOES! A fully five star restaurant understands that "Dining" is an experience, not just a process of feeding yourself. There is time to relax, to converse, to savor the flavors that are expertly fashioned, without the pressure to hurry up and free up the table for the next customer. Our server, Alex was knowledgeable, patient, and had excellent suggestions. I had the Bone in Rib-eye steak that was equal to the best steak I've ever tasted! Bravo to the chefs! Even though I look for different restaurants each year, we will likely return to Cape Dutch for other occasions.
Service lacked luster. Servers weren’t able to anticipate needs. Appreciative of the complimentary dessert for my girlfriend birthday. However, anyone dinning at this price point isn’t coming for a free dessert. I dine out for experience and return for excellent service. Maybe my expectations were higher based on what heard of the dinning experience here and with the restaurant group. It was overall an ok experience.
This is the second restaurant I’ve been to in Atlanta that claims to serve authentic South African cuisine, I would agree with this whereas the other one I have been to prior was a little more creative.
Overall, good food and service...completely different to how the restaurant is shown on Atlanta Eats television show. Dined here on a Tuesday night. Valet attendant could be a bit more personable so that one could get a cozier feeling prior to handing over the keys to a $140k car.
Bottle of wine we requested was not available so an alternative was offered. We were not made aware that we were going to be charged $20 more for the alternative bottle, but yet we were informed that we would be charged $4 more for extra bread to soak up the broth that the mussels were soaking in. Again, gladly paid the upcharge, but it would be a common courtesy to let one know the difference in price of wine bottles...what if it was $100 more? I would not have known, the menus were already taken away.
Last, asked for the leftovers to be wrapped up including the remainder of the tomahawk. Every restaurant that offers a tomahawk cut will additionally wrap up the bone as it is a doggie favorite...Cape Dutch did not do this and by the time we got home to our dog we were disappointed the bone was not in the bag. I am not going to check a doggie bag to make sure “it’s all in there...” just as one would before driving away from a drive thru line.
Overall I shall return to try some of the other signature items identified on the TV show but I will be sure to Uber; ask if there is an additional charge if offered alternatives; and check the doggie bag before leaving ;-)
I was excited about trying this restaurant but ended up extremely disappointed. The charcuterie was the best part of my meal. I ordered a Kansas City Strip that was inedible. The taste was awful, the meat was tough...i was told oh maybe because it was the end of the night ( no at 6pm it would have been just as bad) The elk my dinner companion got was delicious. For $200 I went home hungry. My waiter was great which is really the only reason why I rated the restaurant as high as I did.
It might be easy to become discouraged as you approach this restaurant because the streets leading to it are lined with strip clubs and massage parlors. once you enter the dining area however it is a revelation. Wonderful Ambience wonderful service and wonderful food.
We enjoyed our meal. My husband and I shared the spinach and arugula salad with goat cheese; he had the lamb which was excellent, and my Dover Sole was delicious. We then shared the passion fruit panda cotta for dessert, which was a creative presentation. The only thing we thought was lacking was that they don't serve bread. Otherwise, it was an outstanding meal.
