About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Neighborhood gem
Capote Y Toros is our third place in Old Brompton Road, South Kensington- Chelsea, and it is located two doors away from Cambio De Tercio and opposite to Tendido Cero.

This is our little treasure and instant success since its opening in March, 2011.

We are a Tapas bar serving mostly tapas from “South Spain” and offering the largest “Sherry List” in EUROPE, which makes this place a very unique and rare “Spanish Bar”.

Live Flamenco music is played every night and a truly authentic and rich Andalucían décor will transport you to any of the back street tavernas of Cadiz or Seville.

I made the reservation with Open Table and it was confirmed by me and by them. I showed up at the restaurant with my husband and the restaurant was not open! It is closed for the month of January! There is a sister restaurant two doors away so my husband went to ask what was going on. The sister restaurant said they had no way to contact us, although my mobile was on the booking, and had a table for us in their restaurant. The table was in the doorway of a very full room which was extremely noisy. We asked for a quieter table but were told none were available. Our two guests arrived, having gone to the restaurant I had booked and were very unhappy with the crowded noisy room (the place I had booked is much smaller and very much quieter). Our guests were so upset they left early. Service was erratic, food so so. All in all not a pleasant evening.

A real neighbourhood gem where the is always superb. Only thing I would say is, sometimes one feels like they are trying to kick you out asap. I get it is busy but if it isn't, they might have generated more loyalty through making us feel like they wanted us there. We were keen on more drinks and no one took our table after us...

Food was ok, I have had better Spanish food in London. All a bit pricey for the quality. Additionally the food is coming from the sister restaurant next door and the waiters are busy going back and forth. The result is the entrance door is opened constantly with freezing air sneaking in every 5 min. Next time better to book at cambio de tercio directly.

Avoid this restaurant as much as you can. The quality of the food was very poor. Considering we only had one portion of jamon, pan Cristal, croquetas jamon, one portion of padron, still water and one glass of wine for only one of us. We paid 98.66 GBP for croquetas with no sign of jamon. Mostly creme and milk, very fat jamon iberico, two small pieces of pan con tomat. We will never go back there. Far too expensive for what you have.

As always, Cambio de Tercio and Y Toros are absolute gems. The food is superb and the attention to overall detail never disappoints. True professionalism at its best.

The waitress was really rude to us and pressured us to order more food.

The interior of the restaurant is a little borrowing. Good service. Too expensive compared to the value of food. Especially the wine is way overcharged.

Everything there is amazing. The carrots and aubergine, the steak with potatoes, the peppers, salmon, bagel with pork. All incredible!

Amazing food, the guitarist is great and the large wine list covering almost the whole Spain. Great list, but prices are far too high. I understand the game, but really, iwine is far too expensive... Shame, would be a regular...
