Tables are narrow - more so than many other restaurants. Food had a bad day when we ate. Fish was loaded with bones - I spit out portion with so many small bones. Spouses salad came with pecorino cheese and an uninvited amount of goat cheese. Other reviews are universally outstanding, so we were let down with our evening.

Food and service were very good, but the noise level nearly spoiled the evening for us, We could hardly hear our table-mates talk. The people at one table were excessively loud, causing others to speak more loudly. I asked the manager if there was no way to control he noise, and he responded with a curt "No!"
No apology.

I think that the manager could ask a table full of noisy people to lower the volume a litttle,

The manager's response to my question made me resolve never to return to Caste Diva.

Delightful BYOB with reasonable priced menu. I would definitely go back except next time,
I would request a table in the front of the restaurant. We were seated at a table next to the bathroom and in front of the kitchen door. Not great ambiance. Also, the tables in the back are so close together.
The service was mediocre, but the food was good, somewhat creative take on Italian cuisine.

Diva was our local “go to restaurant “. Then we moved. It was nice to come back. We will come back again sooner next time. Dana took great care of us and the kitchen crew excelled. Always get the calamari. Still excellent. Had two pastas. Both excellent. And, their coffee always smelled good and still is. If you’re in the Rittenhouse area go to Diva.

I have eaten at Casta Diva many times over the past 10 years but I had not been there for some time. Dinner this past Sat night was great and in particular the veal chop special of the night was outstanding. Excellent food, solid service, reasonable sound level and a byob make it a great value.

My second visit in the last 2 months. Very tasty appetizers: an artichoke and a calamari. It was a busy night due to Valentine's Day but the service kept up and so did the kitchen. Congrats to the staff. My husband's wild boar shank was quite good, my lobster pasta ok, not up to the other dishes. We will come again for sure.

Small, a little cramped, a bit noisy when full ... and terrific. In other words, a great BYOB that feels like "a find." Menu a bit limited but that's a good thing; evidently they make sure the ingredients are only the best and that they can execute everything perfectly. Which was our experience. Service is friendly and attentive. Pasta is made fresh and wonderful; at least get a half-serving as an app. You won't regret it. A veal chop special was glorious. Fennel salad, mushroom soup, excellent. We went early on a Saturday (in February) so we could hear each other. It very quickly filled with people and a low roar of conversation. Still tolerable, though. Prices are what you'd expect for this quality. But it's BYO, so you're ahead of the game. Enjoy!

The five of us ate at Casta Diva after a concert matinee. The lobster fusilli was excellent and the service friendly. We are happy to go to BYOB restaurants because that lowers the overall bill. Entrees, without any sides, seemed a little expensive.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia, one of my favorite restaurants in Rittenhouse Square, and certainly my favorite BYO in the City. The owner / chef Steve trained as a physicist first, as did I, so iIreally appreciate the way he uses moderately high tech devices like a sous vide to produce absolutely reliable perfect dishes perfect every time. His seared medium rare veal chop is a wonderful example. I usually go lighter, like a crispy skin-on whole branzino; this time I allowed myself to enjoy a 24-hour braised wild boar shank. His lamb chops, when they are on the menu, are perfect. When i am in Florence I do not let myself eat pappardelle with wild boar ragout more than once a day, but I would make an exception for his. In general the pasta are among the best in the City, and I love his gnoudi, sort of warm little balls of mozzarella-flavored air. Since it's a BYO I always look at the menu before I arrive, and then grab a couple of perfectly matched bottles from my cellar. Obviously I am a serious foodie, and this place is among my favorite Italian restaurants anywhere.

Dined with a group of six on a visit to Philadelphia to spend some time with our son; absolutely loved this little gem. Food was fresh and flavorful. Shared the fennel salad with a friend and chose the Branzino for my main course; it was perfect. Others chose pasta dishes, calamari and the wild boar shank. Can't wait to return to this spot.

Love the food-and the service (I believe it is Michael who served us) Food is excellent-and creative. Terrific place, and will continue to return. When it is full the noise level is a bit high. Completely understand that it is a small place, however, you may have look into a couple of things you can do to absorb the noise level like a couple of hanging rectangle cork ceiling panels.
Having said that it has no impact on us continuing coming back. Terrific Restaurant.

Service was excellent and accommodating. The food was very good. The noise level seriously interfered with making this a pleasurable dining experience. I don’t understand why people go out to dinner thinking they are in their own homes so that they don’t consider that there are other people around.

If I lived in the Rittenhouse area, this would be my go-to neighborhood restaurant. It's a BYOB without a corkage fee. The chef makes fresh pasta daily, including gluten-free if you request it when making your rerservation. The gluten-free pasta was the best I've had since being diagnosed with Celiac twelve years ago. My husband had a filet that was a perfect medium rare. We're looking forward to getting one of the front tables in the spring as they have folding windows!
