Nico was terrific. Both the scallop and stuffed calamari appetizers were outstanding. And the pasta and king crab cioppino were equally excellent. The portions were ample. The deserts were a great end to the meal. The service was outstanding, the ambience most pleasant, and, even though we were there for about 2 1/2 hours, we were never rushed or pressured to leave. I will definitely go back. More

The food was jus ok. Bass appetizer was probably the tastiest. I ordered suggested crispy snapper and it had a nice presentation but it was just fried fish- nothing special taste wise. My husband ordered sweet shrimp and it was good , not great. We ordered eggplant side and it was just too oily. The server took it away and didn't charge us for it. I'd go back for the environment not for food. Everyone was very pleasant. More

Beautiful room, impeccable service & delicious food. My friend & I shared the crab & avocado toast, lollipop lamb chops & whole Mediterranean fish, which was filleted at the table. We were on a time restraint, as we were going to the theater & the server was very observant of that. Even reminding us of our time, which is way above & beyond! We will definitely be going back for a more leisurely dinner. More

Probably the most outstanding meal we’ve enjoyed in the Chicago area. The creative dishes, perfectly prepared and presentations with dinnerware and timing make George Trois a premier addition to our Chicago restaurant scene. Chef Michael not only prepares the dishes, he comes over to each table for each course to explain both the inspiration and the preparation... I suggest making reservations and consider their wine pairings- More

Oriole4. Oriole

Contemporary American | West Loop, Chicago

From the time you walk in the outer door of this old building to receive the warm welcome drink, and are then admitted through the massive horizontal doors that are part of a still-functioning elevator, the experience at Oriole is personal, of the highest quality, and ultimately very satisfying. I have never eaten food prepared with such attention to detail, where the unusual ingredients complemented each other so well, and were never combined to shock or be novel for novelty's sake. I am in awe of the mind that can think about flavor and texture in such a way as to produce these kinds of dishes. The highlights for me that particular evening were the fois gras with frozen creme fraiche and strawberries, the japanese milk bread with ramp butter, the loup de mere, the unbelievable capellini and the pea sorbet. The wine pairings were lovely (mostly whites), but there was a lot of wine (about 18 oz per person). Nobody forced me to drink it all (I couldn't), but I would likely have been just as happy ordering a half bottle of white and half bottle of red for the two of us. The verbal descriptions of each wine were a little over-detailed, but not in the least condescending. I just didn't need to know whose feet trod on the grapes! The service is highly expert, warm and genuine without a hint of pretence. I got the feeling that the staff were very proud of their positions, which they had worked very hard for years to get, and felt honored and lucky to be there. I gave 5 stars for everything except value, only because it is hard to argue that any meal for two that costs over $700 (with wine pairing) provides true value for money. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. More

Wonderful evening made even better by our server, Carlos. Carlos was fun, informative, and such a wonderful person. Request him if you can! The food was exceptional with a variety of flavor offerings. The building is very old, with a strange layout. The dining room is divided among several floors so be prepared to climb some stairs! Once you get over the weird building, and banquet seating, the experience was great. More

We are foodies. Growing up in India there were always so many food options. But the one that we looked forward to most was Egg night. Eggs mixed with different spices and cooked in different gravies Mhmhmm. Our mouth is watering just thinking about it. That’s what inspired us to bring Indian style eggs to America. Anyone can scramble an egg or cook up an omelet but to add the right seasonings takes skill. And that’s what we have perfected. Don’t worry, we haven’t simply stopped at eggs, we also have twists on sandwiches, rice, and so much more! We enjoy food and having fun and know that there are more like us out there. So we are bringing our love and skill to you! Join us in celebrating our Indian style eggs with some filmy tadka!More

Winds whipping off Lake Michigan are no match for hungry Chicagoans in pursuit of the ultimate burger and a respite from brutal winters. Historically at the heart of the meat industry, the city’s slaughterhouses now house tony Michelin-starred restaurants, and deep-dish is just one of countless takes on Italian American staples in town. Arguably the American capital of molecular gastronomy, Chicago is at once a trendsetter and the capital of casual. Calling all carnivores.
