Chops Lobster Bar
The service was very slow and not that friendly with 1 waiter for our table and no one assisting for drinks. I was there with 4 people. We weren’t asked for our drink order for 15 minutes. It took another 10 to bring us a drink and some bread as it was now close to 9 pm. It was so loud you could barely hear the person talking next to you and we couldn’t hear across the table. The food was average, everything came out in stages, the vegetables were brought out after the food was served. I ordered lobster and it was fair. I will not go back.
Outstanding service, incredible meal. Steak was a bit over salted, but everything was cooked to perfection. Amazing atmosphere...always a buzz in the air...exciting place to dine and enjoy!
We love Chops. We have outstanding steaks and service every time. The venue is beautiful as well.
crying baby was only negative
Please let me start by explaining that my line of work allows me the privilege of dinning in some of the best restaurants in the country and I have learned through the years what outstanding customer service is.
My son and i were on vacation in Atlanta and since lobster is one of his favorite foods I booked this reservation based on that and on Open Table reviews.
Chops Lobster Bar fell short at many small details and one major one.
• To start, we arrived on time for our reservation only to be told we had to wait, when I prompted the gentleman whom I’ll assume is the host, how long will it be for our table, his immediate reaction was to get defensive and downright standoffish and condescending - classic example of a restaurant getting too arrogant for its own good
• Our server John was polite and attentive
- son had the fried lobster tail to start and the surf and turf (8 oz fillet and lobster tail) both of which were very good
- I ordered the lamb medium and when I cut closer to the bone it was raw - no big deal happens to anyone- I mentioned this to server and he apologized and took my plate back to the kitchen, so far nothing out of the ordinary in the level of service of a restaurant of this caliber. My surprise came when I received the lamb again and it was the exact same pieces I had sent back but this time charred in the outside, inside was medium well not medium. Receiving the food you just sent back is something I would expect from a chain restaurant not from a place that charges min $50 a plate. I did get asked if everything was ok but at that point I didn’t even feel like bothering to be honest.
We did get offered a complementary dessert and they did bring out a fresh side with the “re do”
We had many great meals while Atlanta, sadly this was the low light of them all, so much so, didn’t eat my food, had them pack it to go and gave it to the valet at our hotel
We were excited to eat at Chops because it has a tremendous reputation in town. I wasn’t blown away by anything, but it was a good meal.
SERVICE: We showed up on-time for our reservation, and were met with a nice greeting from the restaurant manager at the hostess desk, but awkwardly, there was some delay being seated because the young hostess interrupted the gentleman trying to seat us, so the two discussed an unrelated reservation while we stood around waiting to be seated.
The server did a decent job. My date and I realized we got an abbreviated intro from the server and I wish we’d have known about some of the features and things we heard being mentioned by our server to the tables around us.
FOOD: my salad and steak was great. The only food disappointment of the night was the Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese- I found it to be runny and unremarkable, with no depth of flavor. The bread assortment was well-done and tasty.
Love the fried lobster. The absolute best. And our waiter was a great guy.
I had a problem with the saltyness of my steak. They did so much to rectify this. They took it off my bill and gave our table a bunch of deserts from the Mgr. Really wonderful experience
Amazing restaurant! The food was outstanding the service was superb!
We are from Baltimore and love dining in Atlanta where there are so many great restaurants - this one hits the top of the list! We had to wait almost 40 minutes for our table with a 7:30 reservation, but once we were seated and treated to complimentary appetizers, the evening was delightful. Great service - very efficient and friendly; excellent food enjoying lobster and steak dishes; and we weren’t rushed. It was a great place to celebrate my husband’s birthday... which they provided a complimentary dessert.
Everything was really good, service, drinks, wine and the food of course. It was a little loud but it was a Saturday night so you kind of expect that I guess. Chops has changed over the years, definitely much more casual now than what I remember. Times change but the service, drinks and food were all top notch, just what you’d expect from Chops.
Right from the start of the evening we received a warm reception at the front desk. Our servers were ultra attentive, the fried lobster tail was awesome and the filet was fantastic.
I surprised my significant other with dinner at Chops Lobster Bar for his birthday! The service was excellent. From the moment we walked in everyone that greeted us said Happy Birthday to him. Our waiter, John, was very attentive and professional. They even brought him a Happy Birthday dessert to the table. We had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend dining at Chops Lobster Bar.
This restaurant has terrific food and delicious. The service was acceptable but, I expected better. Promptness was not the best I have ever experienced. This is not a place to go and try to be romantic because the noise level was high. I think it's due to the design of the restaurant and the material used for the ceiling. The ceiling is tile which does not absorb any noise so it just bounces all over the place. Overall this is a good restaurant.
Awesome experience!! Outstanding service .
We had a fun evening with great service and delicious food.
Kevin was absolutely perfect! Food was wonderful!
Excellent food and impeccable service. The only issue I have is the price. For 5 of us it was $725 including tip. Granted, we had a very nice meal, but that's a lot.
Always top notch. The servers know just when to approach, food is prepared with perfection. Had the pepper steak, creamed spinach and the lobster Mac - all delicious. Lively atmosphere. Definitely pricey but worth it on special occasions
Our favorite place, and every experience has been wonderful for many years. Our go to celebration experience!
Our daughter turned 25. We had been to Chops before. It was delicious. Our waiter was wonderful!!!
best dry aged steak in town, plus the service is the best!
Chops never disappoints! The food is always top notch! My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there on Friday.
Amazing food....as always.
Always delicious food and wonderful service. One of our weekly places to dine.
Very very good.
Service was slightly rushed at first.
my birthday celebration was awsome there i will be going back
Fantastic service from Ken and team! Start to finish it was a meal and experience to treasure!! This is a gem of Atlanta for sure I will visit again when in town!
We had the escargot, lobster bisque, filet special and lobster special. Incredible!!
Birthday dinner! It was fantastic!
There are many good -- even outstanding -- steak places in Atlanta, but none can outdo the bone-in fillet
(that's actually redundant, since "fillet" means boneless) with truffle and butter at Chops Lobster. The first bite was a conversation stopping OMG, and the rest of the bites followed suit. Order it. You will be pleased. No, not pleased. Ecstatic.
Great atmosphere, the food was excellent as well as the energy for the staff. Valet parking staff was very nice as well
Great Dining , Great Staff and Awesome Services !
Delicious food, great atmosphere, the lobster bisque was to die for. Definitely will be going back!
Valentines dinner with my spouse. Felt like our server was disinterested in waiting on us. He was slow to come back to check on us. Not our typical Chops experience.
Excellent food and 5 star service. They treated us like royalty and the food was superb. The crab cakes were perfection on a plate followed by the melt in your mouth Miyazaki Wagyu filet and fried lobster tail. Great way to celebrate your birthday.
It was great
The food was outstanding. However, I was a bit disappointed that they did not fillet the dover sole at tableside. That is part of the presentation! The lobster bisque was cold. However, the fried lobster tail was outstanding. I do not recommend the honey mustard sauce with the lobster tail. It cheapened the dish and drowned the taste of the lobster. I am a lobster purist - drawn butter and lobster - that's all! The service was top as always with Chops Lobster Bar.
Food was incredible as always. Our server Elliot, was phenomenal. A+ all around.
I may have had inflated expectations given several folks had mentioned this was their favorite restaurant in Atlanta. I thought the steak, lobster, and deserts were top notch. Crab cake superb. Shrimp cocktail was nothing spectacular. The sides were very small portion and were average for this level of restaurant. Service was average. We had a long wait for table even with reservations. It took 20 mins to get drinks. I would go back but only if someone else were buying. I see more value for other streak and seafood restaurants in Atlanta.
Chops really knows how to do a surf and turf dinner. We started with the excellent seafood tower followed by a perfectly seared steak. The service is always professional and they anticipate every need. The bread basket is on the table before you have to ask, and water glasses are filled in a very unobtrusive manner. We enjoy cocktails before and during dinner, and Chops has an incredible selection of spirits. Overall, great food, great service and we end up going back again and again.
