Booths sat too low for all 4 of us and especially 1. They could not reseat us to a table with chairs and had no cushions but did put a chair at end of boothe which was helpful but still not comfortable. Service was slow. Food was so-so.

Food tastes good but not impressed with slow waitstaff and small portion of lobster for price.
Also my $13 cocktail most mostly a glass filled to top with ice.

Been there many times and this seemed unusual. Normally great.

As always, it was a great dining experience. Lot’s of choices and healthy options too. The cobbler dessert was so good I would go back just for that. Sitting outside also was nice as the weather was perfect. Service was a bit slow but otherwise it was an excellent meal.

Being a born and raised Washingtonian, I have eaten at many Clyde's on many occasions. I say that because I know my experience last week was not usual. My friend and I went to Clyde's for their lobster special, something I make it to every year. We sat outside on the patio . It was just gorgeous. The patio is pleasant with beautiful flowers and so clean. Our waiter was pleasant but he did forget our request for more bread. His recommendation of the Clyde's chardonnay did not disappoint. But the runner kept trying to give us other table's food. He said the orders were being put in for the wrong table, which I had to believe after the third time it happened. Then, for what I think was the first time ever, I was disappointed in the food. We started with a shrimp and heirloom tomato appetizer. I am quite sure it said heirloom. But it was prepared with pretty tasteless cherry tomatoes. And the shrimp tasted really fishy. Not like they had gone bad (no one got sick) but they did not have good flavor. I rarely turn down food but did not take a second shrimp. Then the lobster had an odd consistency. I believe it was a little under cooked. As I said, this is unusual, and maybe its not fair to write this review, but this was my experience. I do however, recommend Clyde's and I will return. If it happens again, maybe not.

We didn’t care for our meals... we both had roasted chicken but the sides were not good at all and the chicken was too fatty ... too noisy with all the activity in the courtyard and parents not controlling their kids on the patio while others are eating... probably a good family place if you have small kids but not for those trying to have an adult conversation. So we won’t go again

It says on the Open Table website that you can reserve outside for this restaurant. Not true.
Thankfully, there were plenty of seats inside.

Had the worst hanger steak in my life. On my birthday! While i will continue going for happy hours and late night drinks and food, will not order another hanger steak. if that steak was a regular occurance, take it off menu. I suspect a different piece of meat was slipped instead, sirloin perhaps. Chef needs to take lessons with, i dont know, sweetwater tavern perhaps. They make excellent hanger steak, every single time.

We sat outside on the patio. It was a busy evening probably due to the summer concert. Service was very slow. One person at our table ordered the beef bolognase (sp?). It arrived and was quite dry. He had to track a waiter down and then had to ask 3 x for extra sauce. By the time the sauce arrived the pasta was stone cold. He chose not to eat his meal. The salmon and chicken were excellent but the poor and slow service spoiled the meal.

My party sat out on the patio for the Saturday concert at the pavilion we felt very fortunate to have been able to sit on the patio for the concert which was outstanding service. My date had to send back her steak because it was undercooked they did take it off the check but that was a little bit disappointing, all in all we had a good time and we're glad we went to Clyde's

I booked a table for a Saturday at 6. The waiter started out okay but then vanished for 15 minutes. Another server took the order but then the food did not arrive for another hour; 90 min in by this point. The restaurant was not at all full so I am not sure why the kitchen was overwhelmed. To make matters worse, the steaks were pretty tough. I ended up having to cancel my entree and leave my 4 guests while they were still eating since I had run out of time. On a good note, the manager stopped by to apologize and offered a complimentary soup (odd choice) and also charged us less. The two kids’ chicken fingers also came promptly. Good thing since 3 year olds aren’t patient! I was shocked and embarrassed by the poor experience since Clyde’s has always been a favorite of mine precisely because I was always confident that the food and service would be good.

Service was slow. Waited 15 minutes for our drinks.
Trout was 50% breading. Could hardly taste the fish. The mussels had minimal sauce and after telling the waiter, the second try wasn’t any better.
Clyde’s of Reston was formerly the restaurant of choice in the area. Not any more and we will not return.

We moved from the DC area so had not been to a Clydes in quite a while. We decided to go to the Reston restaurant while in town this past weekend. The menu had changed quite a bit with less offerings and no specials we were made aware of. My husband and I had BLT sandwiches which were very good. I missed the larger menu with more offerings but overall found the experience good.

We ate outside on a beautiful Sat. eve at 6 p before the movie.- BAD idea, band that plays in the outdoor square spent 45 minutes tuning up - at top volume, screeches, drum thuds, listening to "check 1, 2" about 100 times (no exaggeration). Music starts at 7:30 which might be fine but tune up time is deafeningly unpleasant. Food was actually better than we expected.

Clyde's gets it right. After all these years the menu offers classics and updates. The Bloody Mary for $4 at brunch was a bargain. And the sweet, warm bread offered was terrific. Our large party of 8 was easily accommodated in the back room. The service was swift and professional. And various tastes were satisfied with the menu choices.

Worst part was the service, but the food was close behind.

The waiter was probably the worst I've ever had. He almost completely inattentive and spent less than 2 minutes with us in a sleepy section of the restaurant. He never stopped by between the appetizers and the entrees. The food, from the appetizer, to the entree, to the dessert, was delivered by different people each time.
He never stopped by to ask how the food was, or asked if we wanted refills. He left a pitcher of lukewarm water - no ice! - for us, presumably to self-serve.
When it came to deliver the check, he literally did a drive-by, while we were talking and just placed it on the table. I noticed he didn't include a pen in the little folder and said, "hey - got a pen?"... and he just tossed it on the table... not bothering to even stop moving. Amazing.

I ordered fried fish, she ordered the scallops. Both were underwhelming. The food seemed like it shared a heat lamp with other plates crowding it... so part of it was steaming, the other part was nearly cold. The oven-roasted potatoes that accompanied the fried fish were missing seasoning -- the were just served plain! But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part is that they had that hard-but-chalky mouthfeel of potatoes that weren't cooked fully, stored in a fridge, and then microwaved.

I've gone to Clyde's before and I remember being impressed. I don't know what happened to their quality and service.

I've had better meals and experiences at Silver Diner.

Normally, my experience at Clyde's at Reston has been lovely. However, tonight was an extreme exception. First things first, the alcohol was delicious and the service was phenomenal.

Now let's chat about the food...

The single calamari appetizer was seasoned very well and tasted amaze balls!

Our table of 4 then ordered 4 entrees.

The fried catfish was overcooked. The "crispy" crust was simply dry and lacked seasoning. Furthermore, it was served in a bed of undercooked and crunchy white rice which stuck in the teeth. The Captain's Sauce was simply overcooked salty tomato pulp, peanuts, and with what appeared to be golden raisins, an absolute atrocity of flavors. The broccolini that was served to replace the rice tasted like they scraped it from the bottom of the broccoli pot, and then added salt. Overall, the dish was underwhelming, but on a positive note, I didn't die.

The second entree, Trout Parmesan, was definitely a crusted trout, but was missing the parmesan. That said, it still tasted really good! The potatoes were cooked properly and seasoned well. They were served next to charred green beans which were decent. However, the "hollandaise" sauce had broken and seemed as though they tried reconstituting it with flour...and no lemon. What makes this meh meal even worse is that there was enough fish to feed the entire table. Overall, it was decent but I will not order it again.

Thirdly, the Summer Veggie Pasta was cooked well, but lacked any sauce whatsoever. After adding a couple tablespoons of butter to the pasta, THEN there was a sauce. Again, another lackluster entree.

The final entree was the Alaskan Salmon. Aside from the salmon being overcooked and not moist at all, and having a soggy skin, the corn fritters were really tasty.

Including alcohol, the bill totaled just under $200, and I struggle thinking I should have paid even half that for this meal.

Such a shame from Clyde's!

The restaurant was terribly under staffed. Our waiter was always rushing but still rarely made it to our table. Drinks took 15 minutes, appetizers 45 minutes. We did not have entrees until we were seated for an hour. The food all tasted very good which saved the evening. But service was extremely underwhelming. Our waiter tried but just couldn’t cover all the tables he was responsible for.

The service and experience were wonderful. My only complaint was that the shrimp in my dish were rubbery, but it was quickly remedied by a DELICIOUS hangar steak. We met with a friend for dinner who is new to the area and I am thrilled we went here. I’ve been going to Clyde’s restaurants for years and they are always consistent and of great quality. Keep up the great work!

Concert night at Reston Town Center, and Clydes was able yo seat my party of 6 outdoors at a primo table. Even the weather cooperated. Dinner was great as usual. I would have enjoyed my Grilled Chicken Salad a bit more if the pieces were bite-size. I spent dome time cutting up hunks of endive and greens so I could eat them in public. Other than that, all good!

Re my less than effusive food rating, it’s b/c the duck pate appetizer was one of the most memorably bad dishes I have ever had. Even the presentation was bad - stuffed in a clear jelly jar like so much dead brown mashed potatoes served on a piece of black slate with a bit of jam to brighten things up. The texture was not like any pate I’ve ever had which should be moist and silky. This was grainy and dry and pretty much tasteless - which is the best thing I can say about it. It looked like it was actually going to taste terrible instead of just like brown sawdust and paste. Bring back the TUNA TARTARE appetizer! The rest of the meal - chilled shrimp on a huge bed of greens was ok but not great. The service however was exceptional! The waiter offered to take back the pate without my asking him too....and he and all other staff were delightful to talk to.

I've had better meals at this restaurant. This time, I experienced two issues. The deviled eggs were too salty; I let the waitress know, and she said she'd let the kitchen know but didn't offer a substitute or comp us. Also, my Cioppino portion seemed very small. I didn't complain about that.

The Graham group announced its purchase on the day we dined. We felt the late John Latham was still running Clydes. The food, service and ambiance continues and I hope it will not change for the worst with the new ownership group. The Clydes experience has been a favorite of mine for many years and I hope it will continue.

We have been eating at Clyde's of Reston for 28 years--our whole married life. When we first went we watched the concerts on the grass where the plaza and ice rink were built. It is our favorite place. The variety in the menu has always been fabulous. The desserts, crab and artichoke dip, shellfish were always awesome. Now that I have multiple extreme allergies, it is one of the few restaurants I feel safe going to. They are extremely accommodating and cautious. Their managers, chefs, wait staff, servers are all top notch. It has a nice bar and the ambiance is magical. The lighted planes, sailboats and all of the horses are perfection, as is the fireplace, and the outdoor patio where you can bring your dog and listen to music during the summer. During the winter, it is cozy with the fire going and wonderful to watch the ice skaters. I also have loved when you decorate for Valentine's Day and had special events for other holidays like New Years Eve. I have heard that they are talking about redecorating. That would make me very sad. It is perfect the way it is. If you want new carpet or paint that is understandable, but the rest is perfect. We took friends from Florida there on Tuesday and they just kept snapping pictures. They loved it!!!!! We need some wonderful classic places that we can always come back to and that our kids can come back to. My college age kids have been taking their dates to Clyde's since they started dating. Clyde's of Reston is a gem and our all time favorite restaurant ever.
