About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for business meals
  • Great for brunch
Come enjoy the tropical tastes of Cuba! Authentic home style Cuban cuisine where our customers feel as though they are eating home cooked meals that would be found in Grandma's kitchen. Cuba de Ayer is an ideal escape for a delicious cup of Cuban coffee, a Cuban grilled sandwich, followed up by something sweet like a slice of tres leches cake. mmm.... Bring your friends, family or come alone-strangers are simply friends we've yet to meet.

My family and I had the pleasure of being assisted by Nina who was not short of AMAZING!! She has great energy, made recommendations and was very enthusiastic when we asked about the rum cake and cheesecake. Her face lit up and so did ours when we tried the desserts to the point that we ordered extra to take home! Thank you Nina for being so amazing! My family will be back again soon.

The food is delicious! Worth the 45mins-1 hr drive! We don't go here often because it is out of our way but we try to go atleast once or twice a month. I always get the camarones al ajillos with red beans and maduros. SO GOOD!

Revisiting after twenty-five years and brought out of state friends for dinner. Delicious! Recent reviews are absolutely correct. Two enjoyed had the vieja roja (one with with white rice and black beans, and sweet plaintains; the other with the mixed spiced rice and beans and sweet plaintains). The Bistec Palomilla was tender and flavorful, served with rice and sweet plaintains. The Cubano sandwich was large and flavorful and enjoyed with a side of fried yuca - sooo good! The classic Mojitos were delicious and it was fun to use the sugar cane stirrer. Sadly, the Tres Leche dessert was a huge glob of whipped cream that hid a small square of tasty, moist cake. A lovely, rather loud atmosphere, but the food was so yummy that we'll go back! Hope you try it! P.S. I WISH THE OPEN TABLE SURVEY AT THE END OF THE REVIEW HAD BETTER CHOICES TO COVER A BROADER RANGE OF EATERY STYLES! It might seem misleading that I could not select any of their options as being appropriate for this great but casual eatery.
