Best Californian Restaurants in Irving Park

We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation and were thrilled they were able to seat us immediately. Summer House has been on my list for some time now and they did not disappoint. Two celiacs ordered off the brunch menu - our server was friendly, attentive, and understanding of our food restrictions. Both meals were designated with gluten free identification when they were served. Food was so delicious! Beautiful sunny day, the front patio was open keeping the restaurant cool with a nice breeze. Overall great experience from the moment we walked in until we left - will definitely be back!

Yesterday evening was our first visit to Aba, it will not be our last. It’s a lovely, vibrant space. We were seated in the back bar area where we were attended to by Denice, who was both bartender and server. She was extremely attentive, without being intrusive, and very informative and helpful, even providing suggestions when asked. More than that, she was very personable. It’s obvious she takes her role in hospitality service seriously and is excellent at her job. The wine list was very interesting and looked excellent. My wife loved her Pinot Noir, my cocktail was delicious and perfect. We started with basic hummus and fresh-baked pita. Both provided flavor explosions. Our entrees were also extremely flavorful and beautifully presented. We loved Aba and will be back for ourselves, but we also have it marked as a restaurant to which we will bring friends from out of town. It is a gemstone among the 30-40+ restaurants we have tried since we moved to Chicago last year.
