    Absolutely superb, food delicious, staff brilliant and fun. Could easily be in Lyon. The candle in the creme caramel 'birthday cake' was a great touch. A warm, comfortable evening in a totally unpretentious setting. Were there more stars than five on offer I would gladly award them.

    My new top restaurant in London! I booked for dinner for my mum’s birthday and it was a 12/10. The kind of evening where you arrive for dinner and leave feeling like you’ve made friends. The service and warm welcome from Matas was something truly special and the Chef Daniel is an artist not just in flawless food but the art decor around the restaurant. Having learnt they have only been open a few months I would recommend visiting immediately because once the word is out I imagine there will be a long wait lists for tables. The wine was superior to the wines I had recently tasted in Bordeaux and the food was absolutely stunning, we had the rump steak with frites (quite possibly the best frites I’ve ever had) and tarte tatin with hand whipped cream which was just stunning. A perfect evening, I will definitely be back - Thankyou Matas and Daniel!

    Great French wine options, bread butter and radishes so fresh, quiche was beautiful, chicken 10/10 and the French fries are the best in Islington.
