Reservations are sometimes hard to get, but they do take walk-ins at the bar. The food is always amazing and true to French cooking with traditional items like duck confit and coq au vin. We had the seafood puff pastry and Brussels sprouts salad to start, and both were delicious. For entrees, we had the hangar steak and the halibut, and both were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed a glass of a very nice Bordeaux. Service was on point, with the staff making sure our water was refilled. The server was very charming and made us feel welcome. I always enjoy meals at L'ardoise because the staff and food are both amazing.More infoL'Ardoise$$$$• French• The Castro•4.9

- SStevenGoldSan Francisco Bay Area •20 reviews5.0Dined on Oct 28, 2026Wow, what an amazing meal! The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish, including an intimate setting (14 or 15 people sitting in a 'horse shoe' with the chef in the middle and a wood-fired cooking area behind them), an impressive seasonal menu (with a few extras) and a very nice selection of reasonably priced wines. The menu is a prix fixe with 3 courses, with 3 selections in each course (of which we got to choose 2); there are also various other things 'thrown in', plus a few add-ons you can choose to include or not. Everything we had was delicious, from the oysters to the fall salad to the tuna confit, house made sausage and the amazing rogue river blue. The only caveat/warning: portions are very generous, and so come hungry (and maybe consider if you really need the optional add-on:-) Service was warm and (from the chef) very educational. We will return. p.s. we ate at the 8pm sitting on Wednesday (which is one of the more available slots); otherwise you may need to book several weeks out.More infoLa Cigale$$$$• French• Glen Park•4.9
