At the heart of Tresco, The New Inn is our island local, adorned with marine relics and offering a warm welcome throughout the year.Prop up the Driftwood Bar, gather around a table in the wreck wood-lined snug, soak up the sun and the sea views on the sheltered terrace, or enjoy a relaxed and intimate dining experience in the Pavilion. The bar is open throughout the day for drinks, and the food ranges from a hearty breakfast to morning coffee and cake, a classic pub lunch, and a wholesome dinner after a day's island adventure. The entertainment differs each day, from live music to spectacular sunsets over New Grimsby. Our talented kitchen team, led by Head Chef Liam Caves, works with the best local suppliers to serve great British classics with a Tresco twist. We use as much locally grown, reared, and landed produce as possible. In the summer months, we fire up the Ox Grill on the terrace, cooking over coals to bring to life the flavours and aromas of the finest local produce.

We absolutely loved The Tartan Fox. We are not the easiest of guests. One of us is a coeliac and I have an alumin allergy. One of us had the burrata with sweet & sour aubergine, tomato etc. I had the pastrami trout with dill, pickled cucumber, crème fresh and a seed crunch. Both lovely. We both had lamb for our main course one with stem broccoli and the other asparagus. Devine! We say this with a little authority having grown up with lamb from our cousins that was considered the best of the best. We had soft serve meringue and the rhubarb & ginger trifle for dessert. Also great. In fact we could have eaten all the desserts. What was so impressive was our waitress - whose name we did not get - she provided impeccable service supported by a super team in the kitchen who accommodated all our needs. We will come again.

Not a lot of fruity cider options. But plenty of wonderful gin! Very good lively atmosphere and fantastic food (even for a fussy eater) Fish and chips was too big to finish, with the fish hanging over the plate. Thank you for making our visit one to remember and hopefully we shall be back soon.
