Rare "homestyle", family East Indian food and atmosphere. Hearty, no frills, Indian the way I remember it in NYC from my youth.

The food was tremendous ! Small funky cafe with lovely staff . Packed on a Friday night. Make sure you have a reservation. Not many little gems left in NYC like this. Authentic! . Don’t miss it!

I had a great experience at Anjappar Indian Restaurant. The food was flavorful, authentic, and beautifully prepared. It’s a small place maybe six tables. We almost didn’t go in because I was afraid it was one of those takeout “joints.” But we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did. The food is delicious. I think they were the best samosas I have ever eaten! The waiter was great, accommodating, pleasant. Service was fast. Definitely one of the best restaurants for Indian food.
