A comfortable spot to eat in Summertown, north of Oxford. Newly fitted. Pleasant and helpful staff. Very good food (we had small plates), if a little pricey, and good selection of wines (even pricier!). Sunday lunch at the end of half-term so it was very quiet. Would recommend.

Nice experience and food. Some others in the restaurant complained for various reasons about their food however I had no issues with mine. If I’m being picky they could spread the tables out a bit. At first I understood why it was so compacted however we had breakfast in the morning and it was full so they opened another room. Maybe open that room too for the evening and it will make it a bit better. Overall though the food and service was good and would recommend.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Gainsborough last night. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. The service was exceptional, with a special mention to Sukenea, who looked after us so attentively throughout the evening. Her warmth, professionalism and attention to detail made the experience even more memorable. A lovely evening, excellent food and outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended, and we will certainly be returning!

    Absolutely delicious Sunday roast at Layton’s! The roast beef was divine, the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were spot on, and the cauliflower cheese and gravy were amazing! Even better, all the sides were included in the price. Finished off with a gorgeous cheeseboard. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic attentive staff and couldn’t fault a thing. Genuinely one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a long time. Would highly recommend Layton’s, definitely worth a visit and we’ll certainly be back!
