- TTamiBaltimore / Maryland •5 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoIt was my partner’s birthday, so I decided to treat him to dinner here. I had been before, but it was his first visit, and honestly, it exceeded all expectations. The customer service was outstanding, and the level of care and attention to detail was incredible. The way the staff celebrated his birthday at the end of the meal was so thoughtful and adorable, and it truly made the experience special. The food was absolutely top-tier. We ordered the Meat Lovers package for two and swapped the white rice for the beef rice. It was so delicious that we ended up ordering another serving of the beef rice! Everything we tried was flavorful and perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back. The entire experience made my partner’s birthday unforgettable.More infoGyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ - Columbia, MD | Lakeside$$$$• Japanese• Columbia•4.6

- SSabrinaWashington, D.C. Area •5 reviews4.0Dined on Oct 29, 2026I stumbled upon this restaurant after shopping at Wegman’s and was intrigued because it brought back fond memories of a solo trip I took to Japan a couple of years ago. So, I knew I had a lunch meeting with an old friend and scheduled a reservation. While there in my haste and attentive to all the good news she was sharing, I failed to write a review during this visit. But another opportunity today came around today and made it my point to not miss the opportunity again. We were greeted again by “Helen” who was one of the nicest people you would want to meet. I would not expect less from the culture. We sat inside at a window facing outside. It was an old friend from childhood (6 years old) celebrating her birthday because she too was intrigued by the food since she had never eaten any. We started off as a starter with the Shinwa Chicken Wings; perfectly cooked, seasoned, and glazed to perfection. Then she ordered the Shinwa Stir Fry Udon Delight and I ordered the Sesame Chicken Lunch Bento. We were so full after eating because everything was absolutely delicious. I told her that she had to get a dessert because it was her birthday and that I could assist her in eating it. I happened to mention to Helen that it was her birthday, and she came out with a surprise of the following: Chocolate Souffle, Matcha Ice Cream, and Mochi with a lit candle on it. We both looked at each other and dug in; it was the right thing to do, don’t judge. For two people who said they were filled when Helen came to get the dessert plates, they were clean. So, if you are in the area, as I say make your way Shinwa Izakaya. The atmosphere is beautiful and so calming along with wonderful service.More infoShinwa Izakaya$$$$• Japanese• Tenleytown•4.5
