DISUKO, cued from Tokyo 1980, split into elements that define the time. Open-air dining, shared izakaya, omakase for occasion, music always.Refound on Melbourne’s city skyline, DISUKO brings those moments forward in a lively and layered setting. Our nomikai, the Terracotta Roof, offers after-hours respite and weekend ease, the izakaya lounge gathers friends over plates made to share, and omakase offers pause for a theatrical food occasion. Each element tied by vinyl selectors, we honour Tokyo’s DISUKO era. A place to reminisce or experience something new in what was Japan's decade of excellent excess — the sake, the ease, the rhythm.

The 4 hander dinner with chefs Katsuji Yoshino and Endo-san was excellently constructed with both cooked dishes and Sushi flights. Quality was excellent. The Chefs were very interactive and open on dishes. Service was timely and consistently of very good level. An most successful event.

Food was amazing, in both presentation and taste. Drinks were really good, got the Nasi sour. I think the prices were pretty average for the location, not cheap but not crazy expensive. I don’t think the outside area out the back is open at the moment, so if you book it for outside you’ll be sitting out the front. Overall had a great time here

An absolute gem! A must if you are craving an eastern experience while in Melbourne. Everything was fabulous, party of three and we had to try all of the desert choices after our mains. So sophisticated visually as well as the palette. Such a treat

Tonight I dined here with my daughter, and overall it was a really lovely experience. At first, I was a little surprised by the size of the venue. I had imagined it would be bigger, but once we stepped inside, it turned out to be quite intimate. In the end, this was actually a positive. The smaller space meant the servers could focus on a few tables at a time without feeling rushed or intrusive. We’re usually the type who don’t need much assistance, as we’re familiar with how Korean and Japanese BBQ restaurants work, and the staff seemed to pick up on that straight away. The food portions were excellent — generous and just right for two very hungry people. We hadn’t had lunch that day, so by the time we arrived for our booking, we were absolutely starving. We ordered the Sakae En Premium Set For 2. Although the menu mentions it’s suitable for two to three people, I personally think it’s perfect for two. It’s very satisfying, and you can always add extra items afterward if needed. The drink selection was another highlight. There were plenty of non-alcoholic options, which suited us perfectly as we don’t usually drink much when dining out. The mocktail selection was especially impressive, with lots of choices to pick from. Finally, the service truly stood out. The staff were warm, friendly, and very attentive without being overbearing. They didn’t hover or constantly check in, but instead observed from a distance and stepped in only when needed. It was clear they could tell we were comfortable and knew what we were doing, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, a great dining experience with excellent food, thoughtful service, and a comfortable atmosphere. We’d happily return.

An unforgettable dining experience at Shou Sumiyaki! The premium Japanese BBQ is outstanding — high-quality cuts of meat, fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection over charcoal. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and perfect for both special occasions and casual nights out. Truly one of the best Japanese BBQ experiences in Melbourne — can’t wait to come back!
