- SSteveCincinnati / Dayton •5 reviews5.0Dined on Oct 18, 2024My wife and I look forward to date night every Friday. Bidenomics has forced us into a bi-weekly cadence, so we try to mix it up a little more these days. I was searching the web for a new spot, and for some reason decided to look for new "American Food" restaurants in Cincy. Now I like to think of myself as a Southern Gentleman, and the name Roses of Ida Mae's Juke joint just hit me right. And let me tell you how right it was. The place is decorated very nice, very clean and comfortable. The background music was just right, and the staff were friendly and helpful. And the food was out of this world good! Don't be afraid to try something you may not be familiar with or may even have shied away from before. Collard greens in a spring roll, for example, may sound unusual (even to a southerner like me), but if you pass up this dish because of some misguided thoughts about soul food, you have missed the boat. They were over the top fantastic. My wife had the Salmon for her entrée, and she could not have been happier. Everything on her plate was cooked to perfection. I came seeking some real Southern Fried Catfish, but when I saw the Nola Bowl I had to try it. I was advised that I could also order just one piece of catfish as a side, so I did - and almost had buyer's remorse on the Nola. Let's just say next time in I’m having the catfish and ordering a Nola Bowl to take home. And next time will be very soon! We are not big dessert eaters, but the tray that came by was hard to resist. We took home a slice of the Strawberry Crunch Cake, and even though we were stuffed to the gills it was gone before we went to bed. UNBELIEVABLE! Do yourself a big favor and give Ida Mae’s a chance. Know that everything on that menu is delicious and do not worry about expanding your culinary experience. If you enjoy it half as much as we did, you’ll be going back!More infoRoses of Ida Mae’s Juke Joint$$$$• American• Springdale•3.9
