Best Sri Lankan Restaurants in Gospel Oak

I was looking for a restaurant near a theatre I was going to and The Coconut Island Angel came up. As I hadn't had Sri Lankan food before and the restaurant had good reviews, I thought I'd try it. It was quite quiet as it was early. Our server was Vish who was brilliant. Apart from being welcoming and friendly, he was very helpful when it came to recommending dishes and how much food we should order for the two of us. The service was extremely quick and the food was absolutely delicious. I don't go to that part of London often but I would go there again just to go back to that restaurant. I highly recommend you give it a go. It also has capacity to cater for a big group of people with a big long table. Would be great for a birthday or office outing.

We arrived at Mirissa and were instantly impressed by the warm, modern decor. The manager/owner greeted us politely and welcomed us to the restaurant. The menu, displayed on the window, indicated that the food is freshly cooked and made to order and it certainly was. The manager helped us as we are novices to Sri Lankan cuisine. Our meals were delicious, not too hot but full of flavour and beautifully presented. There is an adequate choice of wines.

Delicious food served well. The fragrances and spices were all perfect. It was a surprisingly quiet spot for a Sunday lunch!

The food at Kolamba East was fantastic! From appetizers to mains, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered (the king prawn biryani and spiced peanuts are not to be missed!). The service was also lovely as our party kept growing last minute and the staff happily accommodated us. Will be back!
