Really kind waiters who went out of their way to accommodate requests, without being pushy or rushing us. Thanks for doing the scones earlier for us so that our American friend could try them!

We asked for high tea, but when we arrived, they did not have us down for the service. Okay, that’s annoying and disappointing, but we were going to potentially order food or cocktails while we were there since it was a very cute place. We were reminded FOUR times that “we didn’t book the tea so we couldn’t have it.” Yes, we know. We told you all that’s fine, but you all keep reminding us.

Even after receiving our other food and drinks, the waiter reminded us AGAIN how to book the tea service. Even if I had wanted to book high tea there in the future, by the time I was constantly reminded how I did it wrong and didn’t book it, I was completely turned off.

Also, there was a very, very drunk trio causing a scene. The management tried to take care of it, but they were not escorted out until late. Various waitstaff was standing around talking about it. Very unprofessional.

Ate from the Theatre menu. Starter was broccoli ,egg yolk and spelt, which was very tasty. Main was battered fish, chips and mushy peas, once again, all the flavours and textures were perfect.

Great food, great service. However, it was incredibly noisy and they did not make it clear beforehand that the tables are situated in/next to the bar area. We were sat on the end of the row which meant that at times, we just had lots of people going to the bar walking past us. It was a shame because the food was excellent and we were here for a celebration.

Birthday dinner. Very nice hosts and waiters. Tables perfect I just wish music was a bit lower, was quite loud but was Thursday and people deserve to have fun.
I was there on beginning of the week and everything was perfect. Rightly recommend.

This was our second time in this restaurant. (Last time 5 years ago.) The food was for us typically English, which is why we visited it. The service was efficient and friendly.

BUT: the noise was terrible, even for a Thursday evening. We had a 2-person table in front of the bar; I don't know if they have quieter areas; I've not asked. I don't know what could be done; perhaps modify the ceiling to suppress reverberation? We had to shout over the table to make us understand, and we wondered how waiters and waitresses could work under these extreme conditions. It was a relief to be outside at the end of our 2-course dinner. (We decided to skip the dessert because of the noise.) Surely, something should be done.

First time here-often go to similar restaurants in the West End when heading to theatre, this place could become a firm favourite. The limited pre theatre menu is good value-in everything once you have drinks it soon soars in price! The service here was lovely though especially our waitress for the evening. I chose badly-starter of crab tart was good but the fish and chips main too much. We will go back though as the restaurant itself was lovely.

All great except the chips which were soggy and undercooked so we sent them back. They came back the same, so we gave up and ate them anyway! Good service and lovely atmosphere.

attended for afternoon tea. The service is very good, our tea & food were delivered promptly, the restaurant was kind to give us extra clotted cream at no extra cost.
I was disappointed with the quality of the sweets (in particular grapefruit tart - curd was not set, very runny, went everywhere on your hands, the crust had a soggy bottom). The sandwiches & scones were very nice though.
Would be much better if they paid more attention to the quality of cakes / sweets

As usual excellent service and meal at the Dean St - only negatives and they are small, it was an unusually warm afternoon in London and the level of heat in the restaurant was suffocating - the main door was held open for a while and that worked but a fix was not found for the whole visit. Also the mac & cheese while delicious is way too generous in portion size - no way you could get through it and it feels like such a waste.

Lovely food, odd confrontational service. The ambience was good and we were nice spaced out from other guests so as not to feel on top of one another. Would go back again for brunch.

This is my default place in London when we've friends over and want to have some fancy feeling dinner without having to wear a suit jacket or spend £50 on bread.

The food is always excellent, they do nice low lighting so you feel like you're in a gangster movie and the staff are friendly.

The music is perhaps a touch too loud for my taste - but it does mean that every table feels intimate.
