Dean Street Townhouse
with a menu that incorporates British favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner and afternoon tea, pre and post-theatre and weekend brunch.
We have a private dining room called the snug which can accommodate up to 14.
Great for what it is, which is a bustling, fun brasserie and bar with stylish but surprisingly traditional style decor. If it’s a quiet romantic meal you’re looking for, this isn’t the place.
The staff were fabulous, very friendly and attentive. Our soup starter and enormous Eton mess pudding were both delicious and my husband enjoyed his fish pie.
I was shocked and seriously disappointed by the lack of proper vegetarian mains though. Vegetarians don’t necessarily want to eat salad or a starter as a main. I want a proper meal! After querying the vegetarian options and asking for a recommendation on the server’s favourite ‘salad’ (as that’s all there was to choose from), I ended up with literally a plate of rocket, a few broad beans and a sprinkling of goats cheese. Not what I had in mind, not very exciting (nor filling) and very difficult to eat elegantly!
On that basis, I wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend for fellow veggies (and def not vegans) unless you’re just looking for a very light carb free lunch.
Really great food, great ambience. It was a shame we were served by so many members of staff as it meant we were constantly disturbed trying to give us a great service but in actual fact asking us the same thing in many cases.
The food and service here are first class we continue to use this place as we are never disappointed
Loved the friendly vine & the hustle & bustle of the place.
Beautiful setting, excellent service and very tasty reasonably priced food. Will be coming back!
Fantastic experience made exceptional by the staff who looked after us from beginning to end. Thank you
Staff were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. Food was excellent.
Great atmosphere and lovely staff who are helpful and friendly as well as efficient.
The service was excellent. It offers a pleasant decor with squashy chairs that are substantial and comfortable. Our beef and ale pie was tasty and the desserts (Eton Mess and Lemon Drizzle cake) were also excellent. The fish of my daughter's fish and chips was not of the same standard. The mushy peas and chips were quite good, but the fish itself was extraneously breaded and she left most of it on the plate. My husband tasted it and also found it wanting. Perhaps Haddock is just not to their taste.
Great atmosphere, true afternoon tea experience and pleasant service.
Very nice meal but the service was poor. We had to attract the waiters attention on more than one occasion
Food was great quality and the service was very friendly. Prices are appropriate for central london location. Very nice decor.
Very good service, decor, and food. It really was so loud that is simply took away from the positive experience.
Slow service, food was good but very expensive for what it was. Wouldn't mind paying that price had the service been excellent. Cocktails not great - champagne cordial instead of actual champagne.
The ambiance was wonderful, service excellent, and food phenomenal! We did the three-course theatre dinner, and it was wonderful! The selection for each course was great and the servers made sure we made it out in time for our show. We’ll definitely be back!
The service, as always, was impeccable, and the cocktails delicious. My only negative would be the relative lack of choice for vegetarians - my partner the other evening was a vegetarian and the only pre-theatre choice was the vegan chopped salad, which they chose in the absence of any other choice. That said, it was reportedly delicious. The ratio of ingredients in my Eton Mess was also slightly off, with probably too much cream. That said, I will continue to visit here, and no doubt continue to have a great time.
Outstanding place for a meet up before theatre. Bright and good service, could hear each other talk, reasonably priced food menu and afternoon tea liked great too. (Drinks at London prices, e.g. £12.37 G&T with service).
Great service, eggs Benedict and mimosas. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere, particularly the chandeliers and red dining benches.
Good experience. Atmosphere was lively and food was a good standard. Service generally good aside from the maitre d', who was completely unapologetic that our table was not ready on time and told us to wait at the very crowded bar. I would normally expect the maitre d' in this situation to ensure our order was taken promptly, however she left us to our devices and when we eventually received our drinks, told us that if we wanted to take 5 minutes to finish them at the bar we would have to give up our table. Otherwise, a very good evening but a shame to start it in this very frustrating manner given it is not a cheap night.
Service wasn’t great. Wrong drinks were brought to the table. No apology. Forgot water. Wine and water glasses left infilled for long periods. Hard to get the servers attention. Our server had a bit of an attitude
Fantastic service, the staff looked after myself and my daughter so beautifully and got us fed quickly so we could get to a Take That concert on time! Food was great too.
relaxed brunch in town house brasserie, good service and value, definitely recommend
Always love meeting friends and family there - warm atmosphere and great food.
Fun lively place with great food!
We had the smoked haddock souffle, baked chicken and battenburg cake. All were incredibly delicious. I never order baked chicken at a restaurant (too boring), but did here based on a local friend's emphatic recommendation. I didn't regret it--one of the best meals I've had in a long time.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Very accommodating staff. Would thoroughly recommend
Lovely hidden place. Busy but the bar and top waiter was welcoming. The rest of the staff was poor and treated us weirdly. I would though recommend this place as the food and drinks were good.
Great atmosphere although can be a little too loud. Had thr Sunday roast menu great food, enormous portions cooked to perfection- great value
Service was excellent and the Kedgeree was perfect.
We had an excellent breakfast. Wide choice on the menu. Service was attentive without being over the top and they gave my friend and I time for a chat without being constantly interrupted. Hollandaise sauce on my ‘Eggs Royale’ was the best I’d ever tasted. Keen to go back for lunch.
Amazingly busy at 6pm on a Saturday evening. Pre-theatre menu is not exciting, but it is good value, and you get quite a lot of ambience for your money.
Pre theatre menu is excellent value for money, the battered haddock was incredible! A packed Saturday evening, we sat in a side room on comfortable chairs which was quieter. I wouldn’t like to have been sat directly across from the busy bar.
Super staff and excellent cocktails. Toilets clean. Thanks :)
A good breakfast in great surroundings
Great food and great service .. the only downside was the low seats but the food more than made up for it
Nice restaurant but extremely noisy on a Thursday evening. Waiters were very pleasant but too busy to notice wine and water glasses needed filling without us having to ask every time. Food was overall fine but slightly variable. Crab tart was over cooked - pastry very dark. Heritage carrots amounted to five small pieces which for £5 wasn’t great value. Good bread brought to the table but no side plates - why?!
Was a great place to eat and would definitely eat at dean street again!!
Excellent restaurant with great staff. Would recommend.
Great food and drinks in a elegant but relaxed space. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Top brunch spot in Soho!
The wonderful Darren working his magic as ever. Lovely Easter Sunday lunch with the children.
