Great service and great steaks! Always a go to when in Skokie.
Always amazing, the best calamari the best steaks the best lamb chops the best veal Parmesan, amazing crabs legs & Key-lime pie to top it off!!
Best of all, an awesome team of waitstaff and management.
You can never have too many visits to EJ’s
Only downside was a loud toddler who was sitting right near us.
Excellent food and service. No children’s menu. Very expensive.
In town for a conference. Food was very good but could not enjoy it because of our waiter and being seated by the kitchen. Noise was off the charts. My husband's blazer was constantly knocked to the floor with no offer of picking it up. Plates were snatched and drinks went unfilled. Waiter walked off to another table when we were ordering. We like old steakhouses but the food cannot make up for the incompetent staff. Such a shame
The dinner I had was great but one of the other people in my party ordered fried calamari and it was burnt to a crisp and the waiter took it back and brought back the same plate but took off the burnt items. Not a nice thing to do.
The food was fabulous and our service was great. The wait time 15 minutes even with a reservation.
EJ's is so good we keep going back regularly.
ALL the food is top notch.
Of course there is no better steak or prime rib.
recommend to anybody that would listen!
Very expensive. Chicken with peppers big portion but $38 expensive for price/quality.
Veal parmagon for $58 not worth the price
Best Italian good I’ve ever had
Raul is the best server. Thank you for your great service.
Amazing service and food.
EJ's has always been and always will be a high quality dining experience from the moment you walk in.
Had business dinner with people from out of town. Everyone loved it! Will for sure return.
If you can't afford the meal then it's not the right place. A decent steak is priced the same in most steak houses.
This is one of our favorite Skokie restaurants, BUT the noise was too much this visit. It was a Saturday night which it is normally packed, but more so this time than normal. We had reservations and we still had to wait over 30 minutes.
Good and service good. Don’t be surprised at the prices though. Very expensive
A mysteriously popular place in the traditional Chicago steakhouse mode with a Northwoods decorative feel, E.J.'s offers large portions of average food at high prices. Our shrimp dish and two steaks were are each rated "meh," as were the salad, and calamari. The spinach and broccoli sides were fine. Pretty good wine list, but (IMO) overpriced by about 25% to 30% (being generous). That said, the place was crowded and is (based on other reviews) quite popular. But we don't get it and won't be returning anytime in the near (or perhaps far) future.
EJ's Place is a consistently great restaurant. We have gone there for years and have never had a bad meal. The service is excellent with the food to match.
Waiter modified both our entrees to perfection! Great waiter & chef!
The portions were huge. I could only eat a third of this giant bone steak and took home the rest and sliced like a roast. My parents had to bag up two extra lamb chops each. Everything was delicious. The service was friendly and bent over backwards form old grouchy parents.
Watch out for the service if they give you a table in the back room ( east side). Seems like an overflow room. We had the 3 amigos waiters Frank, Jose, and Joey. They worked hard but too fast with no attention to detail. They gave the wrong ravioli to one guest and forgot a glass of wine twice. They tried to make up for their mistake by offering a free dessert.
We have been patronizing EJ's for many years. This is one of their weakest attempts at professionalism.
I will continue to patronize EJ's but on my terms, main dining room and detail oriented server.
No frills, just great food and great professional service. Think 1950's vibe with the highest quality of food. It's always packed for good reason.
We ordered a steak medium rare and it was served almost well done.
Excellent service. Raul was great. Solid appetizers, salad and main courses. Key lime pie is best dessert.
Food, service ambiance always great. A bit noisy because it is so busy; however, got quieter later in the evening. Always great.
Food is always good and plentiful. As it should be, considering the exorbitent prices. Atmosphere is cozy lodge. Overall a nice special occasion place...but really nothing special, and be prepared to shell out some big $. With a shared app, entree and a drink or two, this place averages about $100/pp.. It’s also very crowded and loud on weekend nights.
Great wait staff Andrew..
Knew his menu
Portion were very large
enough to share and yet take home
Waited over 40 minutes past our reservation and were never seated. Unacceptable period.
Terrible. Extremely expensive for non flavorful food with no presentation, quality. The place was packed - but it looked like the old Skokie crowd, who probably have gone there for years. I have nothing postitive to say. Service was horrible, food nothing, average entree 30-60 dollars for nothing. Would never go back.
Had another wonderful meal at EJ's. Great menu and everything is top notch.
Excellent bread basket as well, w/ really fresh bread sticks...and only gets better after that.
Met Gia's sister Gabby, terrific gals. Ej must be proud!
Cant wait to go back.
Have recommended to many and all want to return. Best steakhouse there is.
Fun ambience. Good service. Very good Dover sole. Over cooked chicken. Way overpriced!
Food is of the highest quality and preparation. Service is wonderful. Dinner is expensive, but worth every dollar.
Don’t order the veal it was not good. Table ordered two different kinds of veal dish, both were not good. Lamb chops were exceptional and fish was ok. We were seated in front of the kitchen door after making reservations days in advance. We were ducking every time wait staff came out with full trays over our heads. Service was very good and accommodating. Very lively and noisy.
EJ's was packed the other night when we went, and they did a great job servicing us.
Veal parm and lamb chops for the three of was generous and delicious. Just fantastic.
The parking valets, Bart and Andy are awesome, really good guys who really know how to move things around.
This is the top restaurant!
Likely my favorite steakhouse in the north suburbs of Chicago. Equal to the quality you would find downtown, in a more casual, "Northwoods" meets "Tour de France" sort of aesthetic. I've found the service solid and attentive, and again, the steaks are the start, although others in my party usually go for (and love!!) the chicken. Portions are very generous. Nice wine selection too.
Superior quality steaks and fish. The best in Chicago. Attentive and quick service. On Friday and Saturday night you will, however, be subtly encouraged to move it along as the busboys look to aggressively clear your plate
We had a great dinner! Food was great a bit pricey but great! Service was outstanding! Would go back in the winter to see the high fireplace on!
