We visited the grill as part of our Fenwicks Xmas window experience. We were accompanied by my 5 month old granddaughter who was in her buggy. The staff were very good at seating us in an appropriate place with the pram and were very attentive. The food was, as usual, delicious. A salmon starter followed by the seafood stew and a burger. We were about to leave when they surprised us with a piece of basque cheesecake (also delicious!) as it was my birthday. I eat either here, or the fish counter quite regularly and it never disappoints.

Really lovely morning brunch for my mams birthday, had been for a Saturday brunch with my partner and loved it so decided to take my family. Can not recommend the Boldon rarebit enough, it is delicious with a side order of crispy pancetta, what's not to like. Friendly atmosphere, attentive pleasant staff and beautiful food. Will be back very soon.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Olde Ship. Friendly staff, great service and delicious food. Crab starters were so fresh. Definitely will return and would recommend

Went for a Sunday roast last weekend and OMG it was one of the best roast dinners I have eaten in a long time! We both had the chicken, and it came with everything I would ever want on a roast! Both mashed and roast potatoes, the creamy greens were unreal, all the trimmings and good yorkshires and best of all an amazingly generous portion of gravy! We scraped the plate clean and enjoyed it so much we have booked to come back next weekend! The hussar does such great food what a great pub!

We visted The Black Horse Inn @ Kirkby Fleetham for lunch on a Thursday. The resturant and bar were both busy but not overly so. Staff - who were busy with a fair few customers dining - were friendly and welcoming and made sure that we were settled into a table which allowed our Labrador space to lie down without encroaching upon other tables/diners. Menu and wine list offered all looked (and was) good. Forgoing a starter (which all looked very tempting and appertising), we selected some traditional (pub) mains - a Chicken Parmo for my wife and a Steak & Ale Pie with a side order of Red Cabbage for myself. Both came as generous portions, with no real needs for my side, and both were absolutely delicious Food, when it arrived, was provided for a good generous portion and absolutely delicious. The generous size of our mains meant that we diecuded to forgo a dessert (although we were really tempted). Overall service was decently paced and appropriately attentive - perfect for our desired leisurely lunch. Nice to have no overbearing piped background music. All in all an absolutely delight...
