Located at the front of the iconic Pier 39 at SF, the HR Cafe offers a nice atmosphere, good food and service. Highly recommended!

Hostess was welcoming, table was ready, waiter was upbeat, friendly,knowledgeable about wine menu and gave great service. The pizza and salad were delicious! All ingredients for a super dinner before fireworks.

The food is the best Chinese cuisine I’ve had in the U.S., nearly rivaling the meals I’ve enjoyed in Hong Kong and China. The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, with high-quality meats and seafood, and there wasn’t a single dish that wasn’t delicious. Our group of four are all devoted fans of Chinese food, so we ordered an extensive selection from the lunch and dim sum menus, along with one outstanding entrée from the dinner menu. I can’t recommend specific dishes because everything we tried was excellent. Beyond the food, the ambience is lovely, with a gorgeous setting right on the bay, not merely overlooking it, but sitting only about 10 feet from the water. The restaurant is spacious and impressive, located on a spit of land at the very end of Emeryville. It’s also an excellent choice for larger gatherings. I’ve dined here several times over the years but hadn’t been back in quite a while, and I was pleased to see that the restaurant has noticeably upgraded its presentation and service. The menus are new and laminated with clear photos and explanations, the chairs are exceptionally comfortable with beautiful slipcovers, there’s a bar I hadn’t noticed on previous visits, and the waitstaff is better trained. Although our food took a while to arrive when the restaurant wasn’t full, it was well worth the wait. As for pricing, the prices are considerably higher than we are used to, but they are fully justified by the quality of the food. We ordered far more than we could eat because I wanted to taste as many dishes as possible. The next time, I’ll try another 10 dishes that I haven’t had previously. Thank you, Hong Kong East Ocean!
