Best Restaurants for People Watching in La Grange, Chicago / Illinois

We went to Bar Mar for a mid afternoon lunch on a beautiful sunny day in Chicago, which adds even more ambiance and beauty to the already beautiful dining area. The food and drinks are distinctive and well thought out and prepared, and the service by Jefferson, our waiter, was very good. Highly recommended!

We were seating in the bar area which I guess is fine despite my reservation booking stating standard seating. The food is amazing. The beet and burrata salad is a must get. The steak is cooked perfectly. The mushrooms amd asparagus were by far my favorite. The chocolate cake is big enough to be shared, as we were 3 and it was enough for all of us. They do have a live singer which was different but at times a little interruptive when conversing. The service wasnt bad however it seemed like our server was tending to the bar staff and then also the tables so we did have to wait a bit when it came to ordering more drinks and asking for our check.

We absolutely love this place! Every single visit has been an amazing experience. The entire team, from the bussers to the wait staff, management, and even the owners, goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. You can truly tell how much they care about their customers and the overall experience. The atmosphere, service, and attention to detail are always top notch. One of our favorite restaurants, hands down, and we’re always excited to come back!

Such a great restaurant! Really cool bucket seats by the window. Bar with shelves and shelves of different liquors complete with a ladder to access them. Great wait service. Oysters were fantastic. The potato cake served with the Brazino was my son’s favorite!
