Best Restaurants for People Watching in Oshawa

This was our second visit, and once again, we were blown away. Beautiful ambiance, quiet without being sad. Service that is above and beyond - classy yet friendly, and approachable. Some restaurants at this tier are stuffy, and the staff seem to look down on people. Not at Hy’s. Welcoming hostesses, smiling and friendly servers, all creating a very welcoming environment. Lorne was our server, and was fantastic. His recommendations ensured we left feeling full, but not overwhelmed. The food was perfection. We both had the special of two filet medallions topped with scallops, broccolini and arancini stuffed with crab as sides, as well as sautéed mushrooms that were absolutely delicious. We shared a piece of cheesecake - also amazing, and the chef kindly wrote “Happy Birthday” on the plate for my husband. Expensive? Yes. Worth every penny for a special occasion? 100% yes!!! Thank you Hy’s for a wonderful evening!

I had an amazing experience here from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can really tell the kitchen puts a lot of thought into both taste and presentation. What made the experience even better was the service. It was truly excellent — attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out at just the right pace. A special shoutout to our waiter, Bryan, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service.

Eataly never disappoints! Always fresh high quality food, bright airy atmosphere. The restaurant staff were enthusiastic and right on for service. Their 1/2 price Tuesday wine gave us incentive to try an Italian Chardonnay which paired perfectly with our charcutier board. Eataly is always on our hit list, be it here when we are in the city or in NYC.
