Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients and a strong devotion to seasonality. Our pastas all made in house, by long-time chef, Annalisa Latavo and our front of house team is simply a dream! The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

The fact that this is my third visit in a month says something. I still have items on the menu that I haven't tried, and I am ready to go back. The staff is always attentive, knowledgeable and full of great recommendations. We never felt rush and the staff responded to all our requests with a smile on their face. Every single plate is very different but yet, go so well together. Try a cocktail, they are amazing. Thank you staff and see you soon.

Wonderful menu, had the risotto special and it was great (didn't need the mussels but still a nice touch). My wife has the sea bass. Service is warm, friendly, and accurate. I hope Cano doesn't expand to a larger location, as it is very intimate and authentic. I have been twice now, and it does not disappoint. Would much rather avoid quick service restaurants and save up for a nice meal here. Thank you Cano.
