Il Terrazzo Carmine, owned and operated by Carmine Smeraldo, is one of Seattle's true dining anomalies - a highly successful restaurant with unfailingly high standards and a loyal, sophisticated clientele. The cuisine has been acclaimed as Seattle's best by the media and more importantly, by local diners. Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home. The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

This is one of the top restaurants in the Seattle Center area and a place we have gone back to many times. The menu is extensive, with emphasis on Creole and French offerings. The sauces are especially fine and raise the cuisine to a cut above many competitors. In a recent visit with several friends we found the Dungeness Crab "small plate" with coconut patties delicious, and our friends raved about the roasted lamb. Salads are a specialty too. Highly recommended.

One of the finest restaurants in Seattle. This was our second visit. Upon entering, the decor is so warm and welcoming that you know you’re in for a special experience. Our server was knowledgeable, professional and his recommendations were excellent. As we enjoyed our fresh-baked, crusty bread dipped in their fabulous herbed olive oil, he curated a special menu for us that included items to share. So fun to sample a few more of their specialties before our main entrees arrived, Not to miss … the lemony veal scaloppine with risotto, the Osso Buco, and the velvety cream of cauliflower soup. Leave room for the key lime dessert or the decadent cheesecake with Italian cherries. The restaurant is difficult to find as it is situated inside a plain office building that fronts the street. It’s definitely a "hidden gem."
