Best Restaurants for Local Ingredients in Orinda

Had the most beautiful Mother’s Day experience at Berkeley Boathouse. We originally came after seeing a blogger recommend it, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was phenomenal, the service was superb, and the ambiance was stunning. Sitting by the water while enjoying an incredible meal made the whole experience feel special from start to finish. What truly made this visit unforgettable, though, was the kindness from the staff and manager. I noticed a small plant sitting off to the side that caught my attention. It reminded me so much of my mother, who recently passed and was a huge plant lover. Since losing her, caring for plants has become something deeply therapeutic for me. I jokingly offered to buy the plant, and instead, the manager kindly gifted it to me. That simple act of compassion meant more than they will probably ever know. On a day that can feel heavy while grieving a mother, they gave me a little piece of comfort to take home. Beautiful restaurant, beautiful people, and a kindness I won’t forget. Five stars without hesitation. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A fantastic hidden gem in the East Bay! The food, decor, drinks, everything were on point, would def go again.

I love this restaurant. They had a tasting the night we were there, very busy and short staffed a bit. Only reason I have a 4 rather than 5. Sat a bar, chatted and loved my pork saltimbocca, husband devoured his gnocchi.

Wowowow! My partner and I went to celebrate our anniversary and got caught in BART hell and traffic which unfortunately led us to be nearly an hour late for our reservation and just an hour before our concert. Not only did they reserve seats for us at the bar, they welcomed us in warmly and calmed our nerves. The food was sensational. Crudos to die for and the plantain gnocchi reminded me of a dish my Caribbean grandmother made for me as a child. I can’t wait to return. (Next time in less of a rush and certainly with more friends to try some more menu items!)

The host, bartenders, service, food, and chef were spectacular, and the ambiance and energy were amazing. Definitely will be back.
