- MMattLondon •7 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoWe had a very enjoyable lunch at the fordwich arms. Our table of four was next to the fire which was welcome on a chilly day. Service was excellent and the food equally as good. We went for the 3 course option with all courses fantastic and snacks were great too. This was my fourth time to the fordwich arms and will definitely be back again. Highly recommend!More infoThe Fordwich Arms Restaurant££££• Gastro Pub• Canterbury•4.9

- SSamir&PinkyKent •1 review5.0Dined on Oct 21, 2026Quince is simply a great restaurant in a great, unassuming location, directly opposite the quaint train station, on a bijoux high street with a preserved Victorian canopy. Where? Westgate-on-sea. The ambience is relaxed, the decor pared down- the focus is on what goes on the tables - food is seasonal, local and fresh; the wine list is short but offers a selection of English, as well as the usual wines from around the world. The photos speak for themselves. Ian, the front of house, is charming, and knows about the dishes - he’s not rushing anyone, but knows when it’s time to move in to the next course. Rafa and Ben seem to work in silence but are cooking up a storm of fabulous, unpretentious food, which nevertheless is a far cry from what we find at so many restaurants. When we had (almost) finished the last crumb, it’s rather sweet that the head chef offered us a lift home! An amuse bouche was a nice surprise- spiced pumpkin soup to warm up. Sardine filets and bread as a pre-starter- the tomato kimchi dip was another level, a taste bomb! The starters continued at the same level, the pickled carrot lifting the mussels in toast with aioli rather than being overpowering; and the Thermidor scallops were delicious, suitably rich and perfect to scoop up with the bread. The main was starting to feel a challenge…and they came, hearty plates of sea bream with cauliflower purée, smoked prawn bisque and olive oil pesto - delicious; but star was the haunch of venison on a bed of lentils with beetroot, kale and fresh raspberries?! We both agreed that the raspberry was pure genius. Dessert went in in a similar vein. It was a birthday special treat, and so we could justify, possibly, ordering too much. The English sparkling and white wines we had weee both excellent- and also the Romanian red. We order one glass of each and share - the last of the big drinkers 😂 We suggest you eat at Quince- we do!More infoQuince Westgate££££• British• Westgate-On-Sea•4.9
