We shared two starters, and both were absolutely gorgeous. I then had the fish cakes for my main, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We were both feeling full by dessert, but after spotting someone else’s and deciding it looked too tempting, we shared one, and we were so glad we did! The staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful and really knowledgeable when it came to recommending wines. Our waitress mentioned she had only been there a week, but you would never have known from how knowledgeable and attentive she was. The whole experience was fantastic. The food, service and atmosphere were all lovely, and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill. I expected it to be considerably more, so it was definitely great value for money. Even though we were almost the last people there before closing, we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. That really made the evening feel relaxed and special. Quickly given main menu as an alternative to the set menu we’d booked with, then brought out bread and butter while we decided on food and drinks. A bit slow on taking drink orders for the whole table and then slow again with service between courses, however we were aware of them having short staff and they managed this brilliantly. Having been a last minute Mother's Day booking, we were all very impressed with the atmosphere as despite it being super Sunday and football being on all screens, it was fairly quiet and the main landlady/hostess was so friendly and attentive! The food was absolutely fantastic, everyone cleared their plates and thoroughly enjoyed the meal, plus it was all very reasonably priced.
