Our server was very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu and presented us with the evening's appetizers on a chalkboard which we thought was quaint. The service was very thorough and professional.
Our party of 4 ended up getting 2 appetizers: Lobster Turnovers and Veal Dumplings. The turnovers were wonderfully flaky and filled with something that reminded us of what a perfect crab rangoon would be. The veal dumplings were decadent; a good mixture of unctuous veal and pork with a sweet sauce and salsa to balance it out.
Two of my colleagues ordered the salmon entree with the salad and they both enjoyed this dish. The third colleague almost ordered salmon but decided to change to the filet au poivre to do something new.
For myself, I ordered the american wagyu coulotte with the ricotta, duck, maitake, soubise ravioli. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and that perfect mix of tender and melt in your mouth. The ravioli was also presented very well and each bite was tender with a great balance between skin and filling.
Having moved away from St Louis 5 years ago, I really wanted to come back to Sidney Street Cafe, and it did not disappoint. If you want a great ambience to share an amazing meal with friends, Sidney Street Cafe has my wholehearted endorsement.
