Don’t be afraid. I’m an omnivore and this was a spectacular, differentiated, and tasty lunch. Eat out under the giant oak if you can.

What a joy. The July menu was unexpected so we went in with no expectations, but it was a wonderful play of different textures and a celebration of bitterness that was done in such a delightful and controlled way. Nothing was off key and such a curated and well thought out progression, all the way to the dessert. We booked another reservation just to re-experience this menu. Bravo.

Lunch - got lunch plate. Good value overall, have not tried dinner

I’m a fan of Mexican food that’s not just the typical ordinary plate of tacos or enchiladas with rice and beans. Fortunately here in this part of California we have a lot of choices. More than 20 years ago I sometimes went to Mezcal even though in the big scheme of things it was not around the part of the Bay Area I was most often in. But I had nothing but good experiences then. Recently I was going to downtown San Jose and remembered Mezcal and decided to visit again. It was spectacular. Food, service, ambiance and margaritas. All first rate. And priced very appropriately. Now I just returned for my third visit yesterday with friends. Everyone enjoyed Mezcal. It’s on my favorites list.
