The newly renovated Fish Hopper, housed in an original sardine cannery building, offers spectacular views of the stunning Monterey Bay from every table, including our heated outdoor patio. The Fish Hopper specializes in fresh, sustainable seafood, certified Angus beef, pastas, and live shellfish. Our seafood is either locally caught or shipped in fresh daily, and our produce is locally grown in the Salinas Valley. Some favorites include fresh Monterey Bay abalone, macadamia-crusted halibut, our famous “Tomahawk Chop” bone-in rib eye, and fresh Dungeness crab.     This was one of the best lunches I’ve ever had. First, we were seated at the end of a long peninsula dining room built over the water. We had spectacular views of Monterey Bay on both sides. Second, the service was impeccable. Our server and her assistant supervised our meal with friendly precision. We never wanted for anything. Third, the food itself. We were parented with artfully crafted plates with an abundance of food. I’m I had the crab stuffed shrimp pasta and my friend had the crab and shrimp roll. We both had the New England clam chowder, which was melt in the mouth delectable. The dessert tray had at least ten choices, each as desirable as the next. All told, Fish Hopper is a not-miss restaurant when visiting and dining in Monterey.

    The location is great and the service outstanding - it’s a bit of a tourist spot and seemed somewhat overpriced. The food was good but not outstanding- we had sand dabs and halibut.

    Fabulous meal! Had their macadamia crusted halibut special. I love the pink-ribboned choices on the menu are designated to receive a donation to support breast cancer research from the fish hopper.

    My wife and I celebrate our anniversary in Monterey every year. We have always gone to the Fish Hopper.. even before it was the Fish Hopper. It was called the Outrigger when we first went there. This was our 55th Anniversary and were not surprised. It was one of our best visits and we started in 1974. The food was excellent. Steak so tender it melted in our mouths lime soft butter. Everyone new it was our Anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Thankyou all!

    We had a great time and experienced fantastic service, tasty food and a wonderful view of Monterey Bay. Love the local specials- salmon and sanddabs did not disappoint as usual.

    Fish shopper is one of our favorite restaurants in Monterey Peninsula. It’s a must see !! the food is impeccable Service perfect and the view is outrageously gorgeous.  we will definitely be returning to this restaurant again for sure. And we’re locals
