From the moment I walked in, the experience was great. Travis was our waiter and he paid attention to every detail and request. My date was even impressed and she has dined there more frequent than me and she commented how good the service and food was.

Flemings is consistently delicious and the service is exceptional. The price is slightly elevated for how much of a chain it is, but it’s great for special occasions if you’re looking for consistency and a place that has something for everyone. We were able to seat our large party right away and our servers were attentive and knowledgeable. This was my first time at this location and I’ll definitely be back.

We used to dine at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar often and genuinely loved it, which is why our Mother’s Day experience was so disappointing. From the moment we arrived, something felt off. The ambiance has changed dramatically. The bright overhead lights were fully on throughout the restaurant, and the windows into the private dining room were open with all those lights on too. It completely ruined the dim, intimate atmosphere Flemings used to be known for. Service was also far below what we once expected here. After our first drinks were delivered, our server never came back to check on us for refills. My husband actually had to get up and find someone to help us order another drink. The bread was good, but unlike in the past, no one explained the different butters, and we also had to ask for additional bread ourselves instead of it being offered. The steak and lobster were excellent, so credit where it’s due. Unfortunately, the sides were a huge letdown. The macaroni and cheese was so runny it was practically soup. The mashed potatoes tasted boxed, and the other potatoes seemed reheated and stale. That is absolutely not the quality we used to associate with Flemings. Another disappointing change was the overall dress standard. Seeing guests in shorts, flip-flops, and overly casual attire further took away from what used to feel like a polished dining experience. While guests make their own choices, it was surprising that a restaurant once known for being upscale no longer seemed to uphold that same standard. It honestly feels like something has changed—management, ownership, or overall standards—but this was not the Flemings we remembered. Between the disappointing atmosphere, inattentive service, declining food consistency, and loss of upscale ambiance, we will not be returning.

After a recent gathering held at the Quarry location, I decided to choose Fleming's for a Mother's Day dinner attended by my wife and two of our children. Although we had reservations and were onetime, there was a 30 minute wait even though several tables in the main dining room were open. We were seated in the Napa/Sonoma rooms surrounded by underdressed patrons, some even wearing ball caps at the table. When we told the hostess that there were four of us (the table was only set for three), she said, "Oh someone will get that for you". The waiter was personable and attentive but when the appetizer arrived, our 19 year old gathered his own silverware, cloth napkin, and four plates. After the appetizer, plates and spent silverware were removed I noticed that I only had the appetizer fork and requested another for the entree. The waiter said he would make sure that it was replaced because they have a lot of clean silverware. Entrees arrived and looked great, sans the fork. I robbed a fork from another table. The appetizer, entrees and sides were enjoyed by all, but the overall ambiance and service was that of a mediocre Texas Road House without the buns. For $490, I expected a lot more and could have had a better experience at J Alexanders, J Prime, Kirby's, or Bob's Steak and Chophouse.

The wait was very long for the food. They really didn't prepare for the amount of people that showed up. I think there could have been better planning.

FAQs

Portions are generally generous for steaks and shareable sides, though guests note variability by dish. Signature cuts (e.g., 14 oz Prime Petite Bone-In Ribeye, 16 oz New York Strip, tomahawk specials) are substantial, Tomahawk portions are often described as large enough to share. Shareable sides (Fleming’s Potatoes, mac & cheese) are meant for the table. Some guests did mention smaller or skimpy appetizers on rare occasions, so portions can vary by menu item.

Business casual. Guests note that patrons tend to dress up for special occasions; while the staff enforce a polished atmosphere, attire can vary. If you’re unsure for an event, dressing smart-casual or business-casual is a safe choice.

Yes, Fleming’s San Antonio operates on major holidays (guests report dining there on Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day), but holiday menus, hours, and crowds vary. It depends on your goal: for quieter, relaxed dining choose a weekday (especially lunch or an early dinner). For value and a lively experience try Tomahawk Tuesday (popular Tomahawk special). If you want the full celebratory vibe, weekend evenings offer the classic fine‑dining atmosphere but expect it to be busy.

For a quieter experience, aim for weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner; guests mention weekday lunches as calm and consistent. If you want the Tomahawk special and a livelier vibe, try Tomahawk Tuesday (popular). Avoid major holidays and Valentine’s weekend if you prefer a low‑key meal, those nights are very busy.
