Wonderful ambiance and food.
Inventive food; lovely, quirky decor; creative vegetables
Too few choices, high prices for amount of food, bland food. Loved Found prior to this visit.
I chose it because I thought it was gluten-free. it offered some options for gluten-free foodies. Would like to see more like subs for bread and pasta.
Though the food is quite tasty, once again another small plates restaurant with ridiculous small servings/high prices! Though your new menu is much better as well as the interior vibe I still can’t get over your pricing. $16 for the smallest piece of salmon!!!! Really even to share it was unimpressive! $1 per deviled egg..Our server was very disoriented & took forever to get drinks & food. Had a hard time getting his attention! Very erratic even though I get whole timing issue on small plates. Not sure if I’ll give u one more try!
Really laidback, enjoyable place to eat. Had brunch for first time. Delicious doughnuts. Quiche was light and fluffy. French toast with peaches were delightful. Would definitely come back.
What's odd is all the plates are meant to be shared, but dishes are plated as if they're for one person. The sandwich is split into two, when they could have sliced it for the three of us in our party. And servers still asked us if we needed side plates. Seems that should be a given.
We love Found and enjoyed our selections from the new menu. Would love to see Lamb Meatballs return to the menu!
A delicious lunch with a good friend. Our waitperson was attentive without making us feel at all rushed. A terrific lunch experience. We will be back.
Our waiter, Rod, was awesome… As it was the rest of the waitstaff! The food was terrific… And the attention to detail was spot on… Thanks for a great afternoon
Birthday with friends...very nice atmosphere and very good service
We've been eating at Found for several years. Typically the Food and Service are good. However, the menu has changed drastically, not for the better. And it took a long time for someone to come by to just take our drink order. We had to go ask for assistance. The food is now subpar, the selection not pleasing and the portion size (which was already small) was cut to even smaller. It was horrible that we highly recommended this to our friends who are new to town and we had such a bad experience. Even one of the servers made a comment that the menu has changed and the "portion sizes are even smaller". Unfortunately, after years of eating here and celebrating with friends here, we will not be back.
I had been looking forward to finally trying Found after many times unable to get a table. The decor and atmosphere are comfortable and beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. My companions had both lunch and dinners there previously and said the menu was very different. We were disappointed. The food was fresh and colorful but was bland and tried too hard to combine trendy food items "of the moment". I will try it again but hopefully the menu concept will change again.
This restaurant has a nice outdoor patio (the main reason we chose it.) The food was fresh, inventive, and of high quality, but the lunch menu choices were limited. We were served by multiple staff members, but - particularly considering that we were eating past the height of the lunch period, and the restaurant was not overly crowded - service was a bit too leisurely. Nonetheless, we found it to be a very pleasant dining experience.
New interior and menu are great! Curry sauce for the clams was delicious and so was the flourless chocolate cake.
Love the new decor! Food was delicious and service was excellent!
Haven’t been for a year plus and the vibe has changed. The bartender was condescending as was the hostess. I was meeting a new friend and the place was empty. The sign out front says parking reserved for valet, but NO valet during summer I was told - not a big deal but, the monsoon rain storm soaked my clothes and dampened the evening after I had to park a couple blocks away.
The alcohol selections used to be more localized and off brand, that has changed. The menu for appetizers is very limited if you are just trying to have a drink and an app. We ordered a flatbread but it was dry, lacked flavor and over cooked.
Overall, a disappointment. Nobody thanked us on our way out and after dropping close to $100, were it not for this being an Amy Morton place, I wouldn’t head back. I’m hoping it was merely an off night...
We arrived for a 10am brunch reservation before 10am. The restaurant was empty. We weren't served for more than 30 minutes (though the restaurant remained mostly empty), and the service was so slow and staggered that between the first fruit salad served to one at our table and the avocado toasts served to another at our table was more than 45 minutes. In between, we had to get up to ask for (terrible tasting!) coffee. All around very disappointing experience. The food was tasty, but such small portions we felt ripped off. I recommend you avoid this place for brunch.
Found is not a bad restaurant..its just that when we booked our table, we weren't told that we need to order from the prix fixe menu as opposed to a la carte. They did let us order a la carte, but it caused a little embarrassment. The food ws adequate--nothing out of the ordinary.
I hate to leave negative reviews, and I have loved Found in the past, but their change in concept seems to be creating some struggles. Although creative, the food was lackluster. Hard pasta is never a good thing. The more open concept for the dining room seems to create more noise, and it just wasn't as cozy as before. Kind of a bummer.
Didn't realize this place served mostly small plates when I booked the reservation. Would have preferred larger portions, but none of the options disappointed. Went with a group of 5, and we ended up ordering almost everything on the menu - portions were enough so that each of us could have a taste. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious!
I’ve been going to Found for some time and like it a lot. I like the new look, but missed some of the dishes from the earlier menu— lamb meatballs, polenta, three grain salad. Please bring those back!
We did not love this highly recommended restaurant. They need a more varied menu. My husband ordered a prosciutto and cheese sandwich, and there was one tiny piece of prosciutto on it. I had a salad which was tasty. Our server was delightful!
We had a great time at Found. Food was delicious (a couple of burgers, salmon salad, and avocado toast was ordered). We all cleaned our plates and asked for extra chips!
We were there for lunch, so not the tapas available at dinner, but a la carte menu. Really nice waiter, owner, etc.
Food was good but service was very slow. Dish came out one at a time and there was a long wait between each dish. Portions are very small.
Great. Very comfortable
My good friend recommended "Found" so my wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary there. The space is very Hip and Cozy. The restaurant smelled so good we were instantly hungry. The server was super cool and he knew the menu inside and out. Everything he suggested was delicious and exactly as he described. I will definitely be back with friends to try more.
Good was just okay and the dishes too small making it feel more expensive to get fed.
Love the revamped menu with lots of small plates and many interesting and delicious vegetarian options. The halloumi with nuts and beets and the deviled eggs were particular favorites. Also enjoyed the ginger kombucha on tap and fresh juice options, in addition to the fun cocktails. We'll be back often!
We went soon after the new "1960's" format rolled out, and sat outdoors. Service was very slow and perfunctory, though we saw different servers being much more attentive to nearby tables. The food is good, emphasizing vegetables and local providers. Our favorite dish was the cauliflower, and least was disappointing carrots. Nice wine list, though they were out of the Sauvignon Blanc and did not offer to open one of the SB's sold by the bottle.
We'll probably give it a month or two and then try again. Disappointing at this point, but we have high hopes it will kick back into gear.
They were out of my number 1 and 2 choice of dish. Being a pescatarian it only left me with one choice-salmon which is not my favorite fish. All food kept coming out at different times.I know all dishes are meant to be shared but how do you share a hamburger? My husband’s hamburger came out long after everyone else was done eating. Decor is nice but we will not be coming back. You only get one chance to make a good impression and this was not it.
Poor service, coursing was way off.
My husband and I ordered frittatas and although it tasted like a good omelette, it was not a frittata. We went for a late lunch and were hungry...... we left a little hungry. There should have been a bread basket? We tried to order the homemade donuts for dessert but they were unavailable.
I suggest you go at an early lunch to be sure there are those donuts as the waitstaff had even told us they were great.
The waitstaff was very nice!
I might go back for dinner......at dinner time!
Great service and staff. Great location in Evanston. Tasty appetizers. The food was really really good. I didn’t realize when I made the reservation that they serve small plates, like tapas. I was surprised at the very small portions and very large prices. That being said, the food was excellent! The drinks were very good. Many creative combinations to choose from. I would go back again.
Great food, great service, great evening. Would definitely return.
The new decor and menu rival the past for greatness. The room is brighter and chic, and the veggie forward menu is delicious....and I am not that big a fan of veggies!
After moving to Evanston last summer, I was overjoyed to discover Found and had three wonderful meals there (from mid 2017 to early 2018). We were excited to try it out after the recent makeover and chef change to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and I'm sad to report that I was quite disappointed. I found the overall decor uninspiring, the service was not nearly as attentive or helpful as our past experiences, and the food was "good" but nothing to write home about. We tried several small plates and none were amazing. The asparagus/pesto flatbread and the roasted cauliflower were probably the best ones, but they both seemed overly oily and salty. My cocktail was quite good, so it seems the bar service is still top notch, but the meal left something to be desired. Overall, it was a letdown after the prior experiences that were among the best meals I've had in Chicagoland. Perhaps they're still working on the transition kinks, but I'm not sure we'll be going back anytime soon.
I keep wanting to like this place. But every time, new and old, a few great items and mostly items that aren’t great. Just too much for the quality. It’s not terrible - I just don’t need to go back.
Charming, eclectic spot in Evanston! Very tasty
We thought the crispy skinned thighs were delicious We ordered 2 separate times & the portions were skimpy & uneven. Did not enjoy the avocado toast. Olives had only 2 large green olives with little black olives. Carrots were delicious as was pecan pie/ice cream. Beet salad delicious cheese platter was tasty but Brie portion skimpy
I was very excited by the food! I’m vegan and love that there are so many options and adaptability. Every single thing we ordered was delicious and also loved the shareable portions.
The ew decor will take some getting used to for me. I was in love with the warm cozy look and vibe of the old place from the furniture to the chalkboard ceiling over the bar and the lovely quotes that lived there. I’m glad to see the 2 giant wooden butterfly/ flower screens are still there.
Lastly our service was a little off. The place wasn’t full but a simple order of chips took maybe 15 minutes and one of my clients had ordered them to get something quick because she hadn’t eaten. Until the very end of the meal our server had a slight attitude problem.
All and all it was a good experience and I actually brought a second group later that night. Everything was perfect at that visit.
