Don't let the fact that Relish is located in a hotel (Kensington hotel) stop you from trying this restaurant. I have dined here three times and have enjoyed my food every time. The Peach BBQ Chicken Flatbread is a favorite appetizer and serves 3 people easily. The Beef Short Ribs and the Meatloaf were given a 'thumbs' up' by my guests, along with the Atlantic Salmon. The menu changes seasonally. There is also a small, but respectable, wine list and dessert menu. BONUS: Because this restaurant is located near the expressway, and not downtown (10 mins. away), you can almost always get a table. A plus on graduation and football weekends as well as when other big events fill the city. More

The food was outstanding. The service was a bit slow, but there were also several large parties in the restaurant at the same time. We recommend this restaurant to people, and we ourselves will certainly be back. More

I am very excited about this new venue in Ann Arbor. We visit a lot of places downtown on our date nights, and this is the closest "big city" venue we've experienced. I just hope it's sustainable (more on that later). It is a stunningly beautiful space ... a "starry night" celing painted midnight blue with twinkling lights, and gorgeous wood accents throughout. The jazz was good on the two weeknights we've made it in; have not yet had a chance to see weekend headliners, when it's harder to get a reservation and the bar is always full. Most of the food we had was outstanding: high quality cheese plate with frozen house-smoked grapes (unique and mind-blowingly good), beet (not beef!) carpaccio, poached egg and chorizo on smoked potatoes were all delicious. Presentations were exquisite. (Chicken roulade was just okay and small, and the most expensive at $24.) So that brings us to price. It's all small plates; we probably spent about $70 on those four (alcohol extra of course) and were hungry within an hour of getting home. The wine options are wonderful, but trend toward higher prices for Ann Arbor. Looking around, we noticed a lot of people who were watching the jazz were just drinking beers. There is clearly a very talented chef here; high-end, modern food above the quality of most "destination" Ann Arbor restaurants. But given our humble city, my guess is that adustments will need to be made for long-term sustainability, as this ain't Chicago's Gold Coast or the Upper West Side of Manhattan. A great place to start might be by increasing the portion sizes on some of the more expensive plates. More
