Keep going back to this gem because of the superb food. One of the best restaurants in Chicago. The chef is a genius along with his wife who delivers 100% every time.
An amazing place that makes you feel at home yet with a meal you won't find anywhere else. Nina is wonderful, she treats you like a good friend and special guest. The food was outstanding and creatively presented.
Fabulous New Year’s and anniversary celebration!. What an amazing experience!
Portions are huge!
Great food, great service
Excellent service and dinner at goosefoot. They really personalized our experience. Menu is delicious and perfect for the season. Really enjoyed the pasta and the angus beef as well as the coffee dessert. Will definitely return!
We had a really lovely dinner that was Woodstock themed. Nina and Chris the owners, were creative in the presentation and cuisine itself.
We will be going back for sure!
It was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed how intimate it was!
Wow! Seven delicious, artful, fun courses, great creative ambiance and music, and BYOB (using their reasonably priced wines from their own shop); What more could we ask for to celebrate a special birthday? Top it all off with the artistic chocolate pops and pea seeds as parting gifts and we had an unforgettable dining experience!
We were trying to book this restaurant several times for our birthdays but we always failed - It tells you how hot the restaurant is. Finally this time we were able to make a reservation for a normal Thursday evening as a date-night. Service was outstanding as all the reviews online mentioned how the owner Nina made you feel welcome and comfortable - Although we didn't see her husband that day. It is amazing that Nina herself and the other girl did the service for all the guests and in a very steady pace, while they still had time to chat with each of the tables in a personal way amicably. We have never been in a restaurant with so few people attending let alone a Michelin. Talking about the food, both my husband and I thought the first course was the best scallop we had in our lives. So tender and juicy. I love the mushroom and chestnut soup as well, but since my husband overall is not a mushroom person, this 2nd course was mainly my favorite. Beef was great but I guess if someone wants well-done then it is not for them. I was actually getting full when beef was served, which is very unusual with a Michelin restaurant, but also indicates this restaurant is generous in quantity compared with some other Michelin restaurants (not to say the others are bad though:) Then the drink served in a fancy container was a delightful surprise - flavor was very unique and I liked it. The other two desserts are unique too (including their self-made chocolate) but not making me feel "wow". The decoration and atmosphere of this restaurant, together with their own style of service, makes the experience unforgettable and differentiated. We sincerely recommend this restaurant to foodies who want to explore different Michelin restaurants and diverse ingredients. It is one-of-a-kind.
The reviews are accurate! You truly do feel like you are entering Nina’s home when you dine here. Her presence is just as much as of a delight as the meal itself! It’s so rare to find this caliber of hospitality and service these days. Here’s the 411 on our experience, and it truly is an experience:
First, I just absolutely love that it is byob. The artwork centered in the middle of the dining area was amazing, I couldn’t help but gaze over all night. The inspiration for this sitting was 1969, Woodstock.
The food was just outstanding- Every. Single. Dish. I’m not one to go into the details of each dish since it was an eight course experience, but it was very well thought-out, paced meticulously and just when I thought I couldn’t eat another bite, a wonderful yuzu apricot naartjie “juice” arrived to cleanse my pallet and bam! I was ready to take on the two dessert courses.
A word of advice- arrive hungry. This is not a pre fixe meal where you feel like you want to grab a hamburger afterwards.
Fantastic culinary experience!!
Superb food creative presentations, delightful staff.
Delightful, personal service, truly stand out, excellent food.
A sensorial experience at Goosefoot
I appreciate the combination of presentation, texture, taste and aroma in a meal. And when I have a meal outside my home, I also seek for a welcoming ambience and service.
I had it all at Goosefoot. Courses beautifully presented and each of them with an unique and wonderful flavor, accompany by great songs in a volume that I could also enjoy a conversation.
The service was friendly and helpful, suggesting two wonderful wines from Goosefoot Food & Wine store, un Vouvray 2017 and un Garbèl Prosecco 2018. When we got there the wines were ready for us and they cost a reasonable price.
Reserve a few hours to have dinner at Goosefoot, so you will have the time to appreciate a sensorial experience full of beauty, flavors and aromas that I assure you it will be unforgettable.
Amazing presentations and menu. Helpful conversation. Cool music - Hendrix rocks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in the home of Chef Chris and Nina. The big easy pumpkin soup was one of the best things we've eaten in our entire lives. Presentations were beautiful and portions were generous for a tasting menu style restaurant. We loved the added bonus of being able to provide our own wines. A fabulous restaurant, we look forward to returning.
Amazing experience. Amazing food.
Always an amazing time at Goosefoot. My wife and I have been twice now and neither time has disappointed. Such creative and delicious food and very friendly service.
We continue to come back again and again, and it never disappoints. This current menu was absolutely fantastic- and the staff are so nice! Nina is always so welcoming, helpful and she had all of us laughing throughout the evening. Love this place.
We were celebrating my husband’s 80th birthday. We had been to another Chicago restaurant with the same concept. Goosefoot is far and away better than that one. All of us would not only return, but would heartily recommend it. Each course was beautifully presented and was truly flavorful. All without tons of salt. The chef is a true master. His wife was gracious and the experience was memorable.
Thank you for caring and giving us the opportunity to experience truly fine dining. A truly lost art with all the less than mediocre restraints proliferating nowadays.
Goosefoot was amazing. The owners and staff make you feel part of the family. The food dish’s were innovative and left you excited for what you would see next.
Amazing service and amazing food! So good!
Super friendly, family atmosphere and very creative dining and decorations. Enjoyed much!!
- must try: diver scallop & prairie soup
Amazing food. Superior service. Went for our anniversary. Expensive but worth it.
Had a wonderful evening. Food was fantastic.
Wonderful experience, and food was just incredible. Can’t wait to go back !!
Amazing food and great service. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. Highly recommended!
First off, Chris and Nina are amazing. The moment you walk in you feel like you are a guest in their home. The ambiance is great, and the Summer theme of Woodstock was a nice touch.
Food: 8 courses, you would think at least one would be just okay. You would be wrong. Each and every item brought out was amazing! From the scallop start to the chocolate bar finish, each dish had complex flavors and each took our tastebuds on a different direction.
It is as pricey as advertised, however it is easily one of the top 5 meals I have had in Chicago, and we are looking forward to going again.
The quality of the food was exceptional. Personally I would have liked one more savory dish instead of an extra dessert.
This was our second time dining at goosefoot, and it did not disappoint. From selecting very reasonably-priced champagne and white wine from the menu (with Nina's help-of course, you can still BYOB!) through the first course of perfectly cooked scallop in coconut milk, the sublime prairie soup, the perfection of their pasta and on through dessert, our entire party was equally parts enthralled and pleased with both the taste and the presentation. goosefoot is one of the only restaurants in town where the tasting menu has NO disappointments AND provides the perfect amount of food (no more or no less than what our stomachs could handle). Chris and Nina have created a wonderful environment, warm and welcoming without the usual fine dining stuffiness, and Nina is an amazing hostess. My wife and I will make many return trips to the future!
Amazing restaurant! Food was delicious and inventive, and the service was great. The owners, Nina and chef Chris, make you feel right at home. Recommended for anyone visiting Chicago.
We had a birthday celebration with friends and the experience was wonderful. Really tasty and innovative food courses. BYOB meant that we had really good wine. Service was excellent and timing of courses was good. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was outstanding. Initially an excellent scalllop dish, then an amazing corn soup, a salmon graced salad, then an incredible pasta dish with a smooth creamy sauce. Finally a choice beef fillet. Also 3 deserts. Definitely felt there was enough food which doesn’t always happen at high end restaurants. The decor is a bit stark. It’s BYOB which is refreshing. Will definitely return.
Delicious meal. Wonderful and attentive staff. Only downside is each course took a very long time to arrive. The entire meal took 4 hours. Other than that, I loved everything.
We had an amazing dinner at Goosefoot. This is a hidden gem. The food presentation was very creative and whimsical. The service was excellent. They have great wines at very reasonable prices.
I was so excited to finally try Goosefoot as it's been on my restaurant "wish list" for years. Overall, the food was delicious but I definitely had my favorites! The scallop, corn soup and truffle tortellini pasta were AMAZING! I was just a little disappointed with the desserts, but they were still good. The fact that it's BYO cuts down so much on the cost, and I loved that we could pre-order wine from their store next door, which has amazing selection from $9.99+.
What a special restaurant. Every detail is tended to and the food is extraordinary. The restaurant is BYOB, but they can help with wines from a store next door, so not to worry if you are from out of town. The service is not rushed - allow 2-3 hours - and the many courses are just the size. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant.
