Hussong's Cantina & Taqueria opened in 1892 in Ensenada Mexico. Hussong's invented the Margarita in 1941 by bartender Don Carlos Orozco.     Drinks and tacos were good and service was solid, but Carne Asada was borderline inedible…the meat was so grisly and tough I had to spit out multiple bites and even the steak knife that came with the dish was useless. I eventually gave up and just ate the beans and rice.

    1st time here heard some good things completely was amazed when we got here. Staff super friendly great menu choices and the Vegan section of the menu was full of choices which made my sisters day. Strong drinks that were so flavorful . Will be back in July !!

    The service was good but the food was terrible. Had to send my tostada back twice because the lettuce tasted like someone had poured the salt shaker on it. The manager let us know that they had a new cook that salted the plate and lettuce. I ended up eating only chips and guacamole. My son is allergic to avocado so ordered his burrito without it and the burrito came full of avocado so had to send that back also. His burrito was $31 and it was ONLY a burrito. When I asked why it was so expensive they said because he substituted with carne asada. Never again will we eat at Hussong's!

    The only reason I give a lower score, is because the waiter was wonderful until he decided that our tip was not good enough for him. He complained out loud the whole time as we were getting ready to leave out. He was very ungrateful. The food was great but the waiter kinda destroyed the whole Meal.

    Food was top notch. From the fresh chips and salsa to the enchiladas and Tacos. Don’t forget the fresh margaritas made with fresh juices and tequila. I will go out of my way to go back.

    The food was super bland didn’t have any flavor. We tried about 4 different plates and it was all nasty. The “salsa” was basically just tomato’s chopped up. For it being a Mexican cantina it was disappointing.

    Solid choice for good variety of popular Mexican foods. Liked the relleno house special. Enjoyed the two salsa options for dipping the fresh chips. Cadillac Margarita with spicy rim salt always hits the spot. Roving small mariachi band fun and entertaining and quite good too.

    Food and service was top shelf. Are server Jordan made us feel like we were the only customers in the restaurant even though it was quite busy. Food was not over seasoned like I’ve had at other places but was still very flavorful. Margaritas were the best, hard to just have one.

    What an utter disappointment. The cantina was so insanely loud that we couldn't hear eachother to discuss the menu, we had to result to pointing. The servers rushed us to order drinks while one of us was in the restroom. The drinks arrived and they tasted out of proportion, way too much cheap tequila and not enough lime juice in the margaritas. We ordered the pork belly tacos, they came out within less than 5 minutes, which indicates to me that nothing at Hussongs is made fresh and everything is quick service, pre-prepared. Further, the tacos had some sort of weird sweet sauce on them that made them very offputting. We ended up leaving our food there and left. Very disappointed, we felt overly rushed by the staff, and the overall quality of our experience was a 3 out 10. Don't waste your money here.. They are overpriced for lackluster food & music so loud it gives you a headache.

    We enjoyed the chicken flautas. Lots of chicken breast, not the cheapy shredded stuff a lot of Mexican restaurants serve. Excellent chips and margaritas. We only wished they could make them with damiana instead of triple sec like they do in Mexico. Then it would truly be an original margarita.

    The quality of the chicken was terrible and the waiter was border line rude. The person who delivered my fajitas said “enchilada”. The quality of the food was like they had no one who knew what they were doing. And I feel bad cuz I’m sure it’s related to the pandemic but I’d just close this location and consolidate then. It hurts their reputation.
