Il Mulino New York - Downtown
There’s no place like Il Mulino New York. The luxury Italian restaurant’s flagship Greenwich Village outpost initiated New York’s fine Italian dining trend and is still prized in the city’s elite dining scene. Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."
Great appetizers sent out from kitchen. Included parm, breads, garlic roasts, olives.. just lovely. We lucked out and we able to park in the street. Food was yummy. Service was impeccable. Loved the house made limoncello as a comp at the end of the meal. Thank you for a great night.
The service was extraordinary and the food excellent.
Never disappoints. Some of the best food ever. And the service is great too.
Il Molina never disappoints. First class food, service, and ambiance. Our go to restaurant in NYC.
Spectacular. Soup to nuts best food in town.
Very good, upscale Italian. Very good service. Refined atmosphere. A classic but not cheap, that’s for sure. Will return. I always do.
It’s like dining in Italy. Very old fashioned with large wait staff. Restaurant is kept so dark that you can’t even read the menu. Food is ver good but pricy. Save for a special occasion
Amazing first class service and wonderful wine selections. Highlights were the cheese and octopus
I hadn’t been to Il Mulino in a long time and it was a great and reasonable treat during Italian restaurant week for lunch. The food is wonderful and I think this may be the best Italian restaurant in New York City.
In NYC for a concert with friends. Had always wanted to try Il Mulino. The service from the time we sat down until we left was outstanding. The food was excellent quality and plentiful ... more than you probably need to eat. A bit on the expensive side, but hey, it’s New York.
Wonderful classic Italian meal and great experience. We come here for special events every few years, and it never disappoints. We love the giant Parmesan wheel and welcome starters. Excellent fresh pasta and veal. Great service from friendly professionals.
Every member of the staff was top notch. Our dinners were great and the complimentary Grappa was a nice touch. Special thanks to George. It was wonderful to talk with Claudio whom we met over 20 years ago when he was a waiter/captain.
Dinner was great
Firstly the food was amazing, everything we ordered was fresh, tasted great and was cooked to perfection. The service was acceptable, however with the army of staff I expected more attentive service (ie. the waiter missed a salad when we ordered).
The restaurant itself looks like a scene from the '70s, which for the price I expected more, however, others in our party loved it.
They've still got it! We had not been to Il Mulino ( only go to the 3rd St location) in 20 years so I was concerned that it had changed. It has not- whew. Intimate and unpretentious because they don't need to be. It's an old school, delicious culinary experience in an intimate setting. Come hungry! The welcoming bruschetta and various other treats arrive on your table before you even get your menu.
Impeccable service! Nice ambiance. Overall, food was terrific, as always. Lentil soup was very salty, though (first time having this, so not sure if this was a one off, or if it is always this salty).
Classic Italian food and more, superbly executed with consistency.
Business, it was great
Incredible! Truly an amazing experience. The service is unbelievable with food to match. Love the whole thing!
One of our favorite restaurants in the city. The food is consistently good and the service impeccable
Just keeps getting better! From the food to the service one of New York’s best. Can’t wait to go back.
I have been coming here since it opened and the service, quality, ambiance and do not forget the food has never changed. Always the finest. My wife had been very Sick and we could not go for the past two years. It was like we never missed a week. Everyone was so happy to see us. I wrote that Il Mulino is for special occasions, but every day is a special occasion so do not miss out on what life is all about- enjoy every day.
If you haven’t been to the original Il Mulino downtown on 3rd street and you are a fan of Italian food this is a must. The service is unmatched by anywhere and the food is just so good. They will accommodate any palate and compromise to make sure the diner is happy. Just tell the. What you are in the mood for and it appears. Not a value place but it truly is such an awesome experience. I wish it was easier to get a reservation but when you are able to obtain one know it will be a special night.
Excellent— above and beyond. World class. Food is highest quality, skilled preparation. Service is perfect. Quintessential special occasion restaurant.
We were certain it would be a special experience when we received a warm greeting at the front door. It got better when the wait staff converged to bring wonderful starters. The specials were announced with a lot of enthusiasm and detail on preparation. Wine and food were delicious. Really look forward to our next visit.
The service was impeccable! Can’t say enough great things about this place. Before we left my husband said I will be recommending this to anyone coming through nyc.
Was a Great experience!!
Always absolutely perfect
Unreal service, incredible smalls to start. I would highly recommend for a date.
My favorite Italian in the entire world!
Been here many, many times and never got disappointed.
I had higher expectations- a wine list with older wines was missing, service wasn’t punctual yet started our gracious and friendly. Food was good but not great. I guess I thought this was a top ten Italian restaurant in NYC and maybe it is in the next ten. For instance, I have had much better wine lists - 2010 and much older, at other Italian restaurants at better prices. I have also had much better service and better food choices.
Never a disappointment! Most amazing meal each time we go. The service is impeccable.
Cozy Italian restaurant. Many daily, homemade pasta specials. Attentive service. Good for special occasions. Appropriate attire required.
My sons birthday dinner.
Nothing like it used to be. Food was not fresh. I will not go back
Just plain awesome! Loved it and cannot wait to return! Plus they could not have been nicer to our 6 year old daughter.
Amazing food and service. Very upscale, high end food and experience. Worth every penny. We love it there
It’s an overrated place with less than mediocre food and very terrible service. Very uncomfortable. Dark small crowded room.
