Great service. Friendly, ambiance’s
Convenient , good food choices.
Terrific Italian fare, friendly and welcoming staff and a tempting desert trolley made for a very good experience.
We were greeted by the host and server in the nicest way, gracious and smiling. The service was perfect. We had a few youngsters with us and the server made sure that their food came in a timely manner. Dinner was delicious, the menu variety suited everyone in our party of 8.
And, surprisingly, they allowed me to bring a birthday cake without that ridiculous plating charge.
Highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent service, fun evening , delicious food , personal attention to detail by wait staff
Overall wonderful dining experience .
Superb, classic Italian food served in a traditional service style, complete with the captain and his team presenting the antipasti and preparing Caesar salads and flaming deserts tableside. Not inexpensive but you walk away feeling that the food and the service were worth it. Avoid if you're uncomfortable with old school fine dining style of service, but enjoy if you're tired of trendier restaurants and just good old fashioned Italian food.
Overall excellent, but beware of Caesar salad scam. We wanted to share 2 salads, but server said it is per person..$90 later for 5 table side salads that was overdressed and warm lettuce.
We love this restaurant. The food and the service were spectacular! We can’t wait to eat there again!!!
Delicious and resonable New York City restaurant. Delicious italian food. Had homemade rigatoni and the antipasta appetizer that was wonderful. My husband had the salmon and pasta main course and the white bean soup and he also liked it very much. Liked the fact that the tables were seperated so you weren't on top of your neighbor as you are in many New York city restaurants. Very good would recommend highly
There is no way this restaurant should receive a 4.7 especially for the food! The atmosphere and service were outstanding! The food, however, was barely edible and the maitre D was condescending. When I asked which of two specials he would recommend, he offered to bring half of each. I anticipated a con job coming and sure enough I was charged full price for the sea bass and half price for the other entree, clearly not a split. I asked to see the wine by the glass list and the waiter was not forthcoming. Instead, he said they had a cab, an Amarone and. Super Tuscan. Well duh? The sea bass was inedible-extremely fishy and musty, the shrimp had the bad shrimp, iodine taste and the homemade rigatoni side was not as good as something I could have made at home in 15 minutes! The bread was stale. Honestly, I wish I had ordered the spaghetti with red sauce that my grandsons ordered; it might have been better. The waiters were lovely, friendly and very kind to my grandchildren. Overall it was very overrated and extremely disappointing in the food department. I would choose not to return. There are FAR better restaurants in NYC. I must add that upon the second request, they removed the charge for the sea bass, but I didn’t go there to save money; I went for good food.
Just like days of old. Tables to close but probably for the holidsys
We were very disappointed, especially as this restaurant had a 5 star rating?? My friend's salmon and my cod were both very bland and tasteless. The salad was fine. The server hovered over my friend wanting to take her plate before she finished eating.
We have been to Il Tinello several times and it is always a wonderful experience. The service is impeccable and the food is wonderful . The freshly made caesar salad is always a favorite and we enjoyed our entrees. We will return again for sure!
We felt very rushed through our dinner. We ordered the Cesar salad and it was brought after our meal only because we reminded them. Previous times have been wonderful this time not so.
Very delicious intimate dinner with fabulous service and friendly staff
Bad table for 4 where even 2 can barely sit. Bad service and terrible attitude. Never sgain
Love this restaurant
Fantastic service. Best table side salad and desert carts.
We dined there on Christmas Eve to celebrate a birthday. We did the same thing last year and had such a great time we decided we had to do it again. This time was just as good as last. W look forward to doing it again next year
Great food, great service but not really suited for families with small children. No high chairs available for kids. Other than that great experience.
We got seated in the back to be out of the draft which was nice but it was a bit close to other tables and the waiter was a bit rushed as it was crowded on Sunday night. The burata and tomatoes were very good and the meat tortellini were delicious. Unfortunately we did not ask the prices and both of these specials were much more expensive than other appetizers and pasta and we didn’t ask the prices so we didn’t know until the bill came. Those two were $60 alone. For our main meals, my veal parmigiana was very good but my wife’s chicken romana was not as good. The artichokes were not the hearts and were very tough and chewy and parts were not edible. Based on the high reviews for the restaurant I would have expected it to have not been an issue.
Very good everything perfect from start to finish
Awesome Old school. Top drawer.
Very professional staff serves perfect Italian food. This place is worth the trip into the city. My gluten free shrimp diavolo and caesar sans croutons made fresh at the table were delicious as always.
Impeccable service. Great food. Good location. Sorry to have missed Mario.
we had a nice table side made Caesar Salad, Spaghetti Carbonara was very good and we had a fancy dessert off the dessert table which was prominently displayed. The place was packed with little room for movement between tables. It was nice, a good place if you are in the neighborhood, but i wouldn't make a special trip.
Always outstanding. These guys never fail — atmosphere friendly, service terrific, food delicious. One of NUC’s best — a gem.
A fabulous evening ! The staff & servers are very welcoming & knowledgeable about their menu. The menu is vast with many great choices. Our waiter helped us narrow our selections perfectly. We were a party of 3 & all with varying tastes food wise. All 3 diners loved the food ! Nice bar area in the front for cocktails.
The most amazing dining experience in NYC.
Amazing meal and service. Our favorite place to dine in NYC
Been going to Il T for 30 plus years and it never lets me down—great staff, food and ambience! Thanks to the team!
The fettuccini with mascarpone cheese and fresh truffles was incredible! Excellent wine list and the service was outstanding!
Best meal i have had in a long time. Amazing experience.
We stayed a week in New York City this December with the idea of fine dining, shopping, and lots of great Views of the Christmas decorations. Our focus was the best rated restaurants and were able to dine at 5 highly rated Italian restaurants. Each restaurant offered authentic foods and unique settings which enabled us to get a real flavor for the city and its people. Il Tinello was one we found on line which had good reviews and an interesting menu. The restaurant is ideally situated within walking distance of Central Park, the theater district and many other attractions. We chose IL Tinello as our “last night” in New York City given its great rating and recommendations on most websites -sadly IL Tinello did not live up to its rating of four plus stars. In fact, the restaurant placed a distant fifth out of five. On the upside the drinks were very generous pours and equally priced with other New York restaurants at $20 per martini. The bar service was excellent and our bar tender was pleasant. Our hopes were high until we shared a simple caprese salad which turned out to be very average and unremarkable (not worth the money), we then ordered our entrees - one vegetable dish over a bed of angel hair pasta was tasty but seem to lack the tastiness of a made to order dish, it had a prepackaged appeal and was not fully consumed. The second entree was a veal Marsala with mushrooms - this dish turned out to be very good and the portion was consistent with the price. For dessert we had a couple glasses of waiter recommmeded Antonori red Italian wine - which tasted like gasoline, our server to his credit quickly replaced the wine with two different glasses of wine both of which were satisfactory. We finished the evening with the tiara misu which was tasty but not remarkable. Long story short we expected more from IL Tinello, it was a big disappointment given the many positive reviews and high rating on many sites. We are not recommending IL Tinello (party of 5)
I’m a fan of Tinello but they rushed it in order to do another seating at our table. It was Saturday night, but it is inexcusable not to tell people at the time of booking the reservation that it will be a rushed meal. I was with friends from overseas and to be handed the bill right after we finished our main course was a jolt. The place is usually a 10! I am still a fan. But I would stay away on weekends or business times.
Best Chicken Picatta, “better than mine,” first time my wife has ever said that.
Once again a great meal....the first table to the right is not my favorite - they tend to park the appetizer and desert carts at the table. Also berries - $19....still outstanding service and awesome appetizers. Will continue to be a patron of this fine place!
the food was good to moderate the restaurant is very small and tables on top of each other the bus and waiting staff were excellent and attentive. the head waiter was a bit arroaunt, pushed to order quickly and all at once if you want quick, fast but no time to enjoy food or each other this is your place. ,
Service very rushed. They literally hovered over you waiting for you to take last bite, then clear the dish. Certainly got the impression they wanted to get you in and out as quick as possible.
