Hospitality and Will Guidara are synonymous. The Unreasonable Hospitality author and OpenTable advisory board member built his career on crafting a signature style of over-the-top, surprise-and-delight hospitality that drove Eleven Madison Park to the top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2017. He’s since left EMP to spread his trademark hospitality to more restaurants and even other industries. When he’s not busy upping industry standards, here’s where he loves to eat in his hometown of New York City. OpenTable advisory board members are compensated for their time and expertise, but all the restaurant selections are their own.

Falling in love with New York City has to do with its food. Eating snails for the first time at an Upper East Side French staple after saving up money in college; slurping oysters with friends over brunch at a seafood favorite; and going back in for consecutive helpings of tingly Chungking chicken—only to realize it’s just a tiny fraction of the diversity of cuisines in the city. Eating out in New York will keep inspiring, if you know where to look. I say this with the confidence of years spent as a food reporter and editor at places like Eater and now OpenTable. The result of these experiences is a collection of restaurants that I can recommend as my go-tos. These 16 places are a mix of everyday spots and special-occasion bangers that remind you how thrilling dining out here can be.

Weekend brunch, Saturday and Sunday, is a standout: the restaurant offers weekend brunch and guests report enjoying the brunch menu.
Portions are sized for multi-course dining, guests note portions are good enough to share on tasting menus and many say they leave comfortably full.
Yes, Indian Accent is well suited to special evenings: guests celebrate anniversaries and Valentine's dinners there, praising the quiet, beautiful room and attentive service.
Indian Accent offers an understated, fine‑dining room where the food is the star, guests describe a beautiful, muted‑light space with neutral-gray walls and a calm, quietly elegant atmosphere ideal for special occasions.
Smart casual is the guide at Indian Accent, polished but relaxed, the kind of place where many guests treat a dinner as a special‑occasion night out.
Indian Accent is especially pleasant at lunch or for an early dinner, weekend brunch (Sat–Sun 11:30–2:00) and weekday lunch (Tue–Fri 12:00–2:00) feel relaxed, and an early dinner around the 5:00 pm opening tends to be calmer and convenient for theatre-goers.
