Great meat and service. Usually have takeout orders from this restaurant, but last night was a bit special so we took our son who lives in Mission, KS. Service by Ben was excellent and the food for the most part was excellent. The burnt end beef was recommended, but I would not recommend it - far too fatty.

The fish was stiff and dry. I felt pain in my stomach after the meal. It has never happened in other branches of Jackstack. So it was very disappointing

Great BBQ and service as always at Jack Stack. It was a little cold…need a little less AC. Like the updates they’ve made at the Metcalf location.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Okay so Jack Stack is just not fair to other BBQ places. It sets a bar that basically nothing else can clear. Got the burnt ends and ribs and honestly both were incredible. The burnt ends have this perfect crispy-smoky thing going on and the ribs fall off the bone without being mushy — which is harder to pull off than people realize. Everything is smoked over hickory wood and you can absolutely taste the difference. The sides are not an afterthought here. The cheesy corn bake and hickory pit beans are legitimately as good as the meat, which is saying something. Do not skip them. Just go. Bring an appetite.

We ordered the Cue for 2 Burnt ends. Absolutely delicious! Would order again! It was our first time to dine here & the waiter very graciously highlighted the menu for us! We were pleasantly surprised by the bill—very good value for all the food we received!Overall—very positive experience! Highly recommend!

We use to love the food there but the quality seems to have gone downhill the past year or two. The ribs my husband got were very overcooked/dry and our server was not friendly. However, I will say, The beans are still amazing and I did like my pulled pork sandwich.

We had the pulled pork Mac ‘n Cheese appetizer and the beef brisket, pork burnt ends, smoked sausage with sides of the corn bake and hickory baked beans. All the food was delicious! Our server was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing.

Super over priced for what you get. Food is fine, but not great. Ours was cold. This place used to be a nice place for a special dinner. This time there were tables watching youtube videos on max volume. Kind of ruined it for us.

Casual dress is appropriate, the restaurant lists a casual dress code and guests routinely dine in relaxed attire. Whether you’re coming for a family meal, date night or a celebration, casual comfortable clothing fits the setting.

Portions are generally generous, many guests mention large plates and family-style servings. The menu offers shareable family platters ('Cue For Two/Four', family-style 'Cue') and hearty entrees (burnt ends, ribs, loaded baked potatoes). Several guests also note plentiful leftovers and good value from combo and family meals, though a few long-time guests commented portions felt smaller recently. If you’re sharing, the family platters or Cue-for-Two/Four options are ideal.

Yes, guests commonly make reservations and request seating preferences or celebration touches in advance. Many reviewers praised staff who honored birthday desserts and table requests; some guests recommend calling ahead for specific needs (high chairs, booster seats, seating for larger groups or accessibility). If you have strict dietary or accessibility needs, call to confirm accommodations.

Yes, Jack Stack is a solid choice for a date night if you like lively, casual upscale barbecue. Guests frequently praise the excellent service, renovated dining areas and standout dishes like burnt ends, brisket and the Crown Prime rib. Expect a bustling, sometimes loud atmosphere on weekend nights, and a roomy bar area if you prefer a more informal spot. For a quieter, more relaxed table, try a midweek dinner or an early seating and mention any special requests when you reserve.

For a quieter visit, midweek lunches or early weekday dinners are best, guests note a calm dining room on weekday afternoons (example: 2:30 PM Tuesday was quiet). Weekends, holidays, Chiefs/post-game nights and Saturday evenings are busiest, so book reservations or arrive early on those peak nights.

Casual, bustling and warm, Jack Stack blends upscale barbecue decor with a comfortable, family-friendly vibe. Guests praise the renovated look, cozy dining rooms and attentive service. Expect lively energy on busy nights (some report high noise levels), while midweek afternoons tend to be quieter. Overall it’s a friendly, celebratory atmosphere great for families, groups and casual date nights.

Yes, Jack Stack is a multi-location Kansas City barbecue group that began in 1957 and expanded from the original Martin City location. Reviews mention other Jack Stack locations (Plaza, Freight House, Martin City), and the brand operates several restaurants around Kansas City.

Family-friendly: yes, guests often bring children, celebrate birthdays, and the staff accommodates families with high chairs/boosters and extra attention for kids. Several reviews mention birthday celebrations and helpful servers for families. Accessibility (ADA-compliant seating/ramps) isn’t specified in the provided info, so call ahead to confirm accessible seating or specific accommodations before your visit.

Busiest: weekend evenings (especially Saturday), holidays and post-game/Chiefs-event nights, guests frequently report packed dining rooms and longer waits. Quietest: midweek lunches and mid-afternoon on weekdays (examples: guests noted 2:30 PM Tuesday was quiet). Plan accordingly and reserve for popular evenings.

Yes, guests report dining at Jack Stack on holidays (Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day and other holiday dates) and the restaurant handled busy holiday service. Holiday hours may vary, so call ahead or check the restaurant’s reservation system for specific holiday hours and availability.

Yes, families and children dine here regularly. Guests report birthday celebrations, kids enjoying meals, helpful servers for family groups and availability of high chairs/boosters. The menu has shareable plates and hearty sides that appeal to kids. For younger children, an early seating or a reservation helps ensure a comfortable experience.

While the restaurant accepts reservations and often honors them, busy nights can create waits for walk-ins. Several guests recommend making reservations for weekend evenings and holidays; others report waits even with reservations during peak times. If you’re visiting on a busy night, book ahead and call the host stand if you need to confirm timing.

For a balance of great food and lower crowds, choose a weekday (Tuesday–Thursday) or a weekday lunch. Guests report calmer service and easier seating during midweek; if you want the full lively experience, pick a Friday or Saturday night but reserve in advance.
