King + Duke
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.
Great food, great service and they treated my young daughter like a queen on her birthday.
The difference of being in the restaurant for a private lunch (a five) and arriving for dinner on Sunday (0)... was just painful.
Staff chatted over their phones at the bar for a full 20 minutes until we had their attention. No one came to the table for 20 minutes. Four tables were seated in total, in the restaurant.
Waitress didn’t think to say sorry and acted cheeky when we wanted to place our full order at the time the cocktail order. Who trains these people? You’d have thought it was our fault that we chose King and Duke.
When we first arrived to the restaurant we were a little confused if we were at the right place because of how few people were there, but my guess it is because of the construction because the food and service is AMAZING!! WOW what a great server we had, he was very attentive and his attention to detail was bar none the best I've seen in quite a while. Then the food arrived...SO GOOD! I honestly thought there is no way that this place should be this empty even with construction going on. One of the top 5 restaurants in ATL for sure and we will definitely be back.
It was a good experience but I won’t be adding it to my list of favorites. Lobster fritters were great. Blowfish tails were a miss. Texture was good but the seasoning was off. Scallops were just ok and sandy. Waiter was nice but I got the feeling he was in a hurry. What I like best is seating. Outdoor seating awesome!!
I was celebrating a birthday (I advised prior) and I was given a table with 4 chairs, in the middle of the restaurant. The waiter didn't help with recommendations, just said hey can modify anything for a pescatarian. The food was not the best, at all.
We usually adore this place. Not sure if it was just an off night or they have changed something in service/menu/chef line. But, food took WAY too long. Cocktails took around fifteen minutes or more every time you finally got a chance to order one. Water glasses sat empty. It was extremely hot inside near the kitchen, which isn’t normal. We felt bad for our server, as it seemed that she had way too many tables and was trying her best. Hope next time we come there is improvement.
We enjoyed my son's 27th birthday dinner at King + Duke on Thursday, September 12, 2019.
Our server, Avery was just wonderful and everything she recommended from drinks to appetizers to entrees, was spot on! My husband and I dined at this establishment for dinner and brunch and my daughter had cocktails here prior to this dinner. My son and his girlfriend just LOVED their first experience at King + Duke. My 3 year old granddaughter joined us and she was very well-mannered and of course, Avery was VERY kind to her. The staff accommodated me with my "Kneerover Scooter" and seated us at a table so that the scooter would not interfere with the servers and other guests.
Always a GREAT time at King + Duke! We will all be back for brunch soon to dine on THE BEST Eggs Benedict dish that we have ever tasted.
We celebrated a birthday and had so much fun. Our waitstaff was great and came around at good times without disturbing our celebration. We will all come back
King + Duke has been on my bucket list for a while and I was super excited to finally knock it off. The decor and vibe were great and our server, Toki, was exceptional. The only hiccup I would mention was the whole roasted fish. I’m accustomed to this style of fish being gutted before cooking/serving so I was unpleasantly surprised that my first bite was a mouth full of guts. The fish is covered in a dark sauce and the lighting is pretty dim, so it wasn’t overly obvious that’s what I had scooped on my plate. I wish I had said something but I assumed such a high end restaurant knew what they were doing and I just wasn’t savvy enough to get it. But that first bite kind of ruined the rest of the meal for me. Lesson learned.
We had a great time. Beautiful atmosphere and great service. I believe our waiter's name was Cameron. He was great. Attentive. We had shared plates, dessert and cocktails. Attention to detail was great throughout. We will be back.
Great service, wonderful food. The smell of the wood smoke is intoxicating!
Always a Five !!! Pork chop and chicken tonight were the Best!!! Roasted apples now no more peaches!!!
Great patio service too!!!
Our waitress was very good but their was a slow down in the kitchen and our food took a very long time to come out. The staff was very accommodating and made sure we were well taken care of.
Casual yet chic atmosphere. Drinks were top notch and the wine list ample. Our party of five all had different dishes and everyone was very pleased. I had the L steak: grilled and seasoned just right. The corn was a big hit. Overall very nice restaurant. Kitchen did take longer than usual to serve the entrees and the noise level was pretty high. But we had a great evening. It a must go!
Birthday dinner it was great
I have been to King and Duke before, this time it was not up to par. I had the King and it was very fatty, was covered in too much Chimichurri sauce and was just not good. Comparison wise I was at Chops 1 week ago and the steak was twice as good for half the price. We will not be back.
I always love the space... the quiche was great & the corn / lobster rolls were amazing. The biscuits were a bit cold but the prosciutto was lovely. The best part was the service! Everyone who helped us was wonderful.... we had a perfect rose’ followed by some fantastic espresso martinis
Excellent food and service by Patrick
I ordered a 40oz steak for $100 and ordered it medium only for it to come to the table MW/W. I was very disappointed after waiting so long for it to cook. The staff and GM took great care of me in the end but I really wanted to enjoy that steak.
Great warm welcome.
Our seatings felt a little too hot since it was directly in front of their open flame kitchen. Mind you; I'm also 37 weeks pregnant. Service was lovely and timely. Overall the food was delicious, however more on the salty side. I loved my mussels meal! Oh, and I'll add that this restaurant is not child friendly. No kids meal. Side dishes are a little spicy.
Always enjoyable. Varied “farm to table” menu. Attentive service. Good for foodies, and of you are a sticky toffee (bread) pudding fan then dessert is a must.
Food was amazing! Service was great!
Ordered the chorizo hash not as expected. Have been to brunch before selection was not good.
Amazing Sunday brunch with the best breakfast food (superb creative presentation) at a great value...difficult to find parking and entrance. We sat outside and loved the ambiance and great service :)
We had the cinnamon roll for appetizer and split a burger for our meal. All was delicious.
Excellent service and food. Great selection of wine and beers.
Stopped here for a bite with my best friend, we enjoyed the food. We both had burgers but the highlight was the Toffee pudding :) it was amazing. The drinks were very good as well.
Had a great experience.....will be back...drinks were good with cbc oil...a must
This is the second time we've tried this restaurant and both times the service has been horrendous. The server at this last visit, seemed more interested in entering information in to the computer then coming by the table occassionally to check for empty water glasses, taking drink orders, even bringing the check when asked. It is ashame since the food was very good. The manager said that they were short staffed but the restaurant wasn't that busy. There are too many good restaurants in the area with consistently better service and same quality of food to come back to King + Dukes again.
Enjoyed the food, however service was slow, the meals for my wife and I did not arrive at the same time which was a big miss. Finally the plates were barely large enough for the meals which makes it more difficult to actually enjoy the great tasting food.
Excellent food with excellent service! We will definitely be back. King + Duke never disappoints!
I took 4 of my friends from out of town here because I heard it was a great place for entertainment... well we were entertained but not a good way. Our waitress took a very long time to bring out drinks and waters, which rarely were refilled. I complained to the manager regarding the poor service and the same waitress came and scolded our table about the complaint.
We then found out that not only were we getting scrutinized by the waitress but she never even put in our order. I ordered porkchop and the was approached by a new waiter 25 minutes later being told that they were out of lobster and pork chops and I needed to make another selection.
For meals that cost 50+ per plate I have never been so disappointed. The food was average and the service was absolutely the worst I’ve received in a very long time. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because our meals were compensated for. I don’t plan on returning.
Drinks were very slow but our waitress was great
The food here just isn’t as good as it used to be. The lamb ribs were mediocre. The burger was dry. The muscles were just sitting in oil. 👎🏼
Probably the best meal start to finish I’ve ever had. Started with the placebo cocktail, then lobster fritters and the rare wagyu. Perfect. Next had the steak-frites, which may have been the best steak I’ve ever had. The fries are cooked in beef tallow, which makes them better than every other fry. My fiancée had the burger, which was also incredible. Finished off with the sticky toffee pudding, which was gone in 2 minutes. Such a delightful meal.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere and exceptional service. Lovely place for any occasion.
Great time and very busy due to it being Friday. The staff was extraordinarily attentive and made the kids, wife and I feel like family. Great meal and a wonderful dining experience! ALJ
Love this place. Great guys night spot. Good vibe. Highly Recommend.
Great service, delicious food and beautiful restaurant with awesome ambiance. I ate a berry crostata that was outstanding.
