Superb friendly service & food was great too! Got a free pirce of birthday cake & ice cream & candle for my husband’s birthday too!
Can depend on Lwood for consistently good food and service.
Barbecue chicken and ribs excellent. Whitefish special good. Dessert Gil’s and apple tart very tasty. Jim our waiter was 5star
We had the special fried perch, it was delicious. The service was great and we definitely will return in the near future.
I have been here many times. I usually have a special, the salmon , ribs or whitefish. Tonight I thought I'd try something different. So I ordered the trout. I was quite disappointed because it was overdone and dry. Guess I'll go back to my "regulars" the next time.
If you try trout be sure to tell them not to over cook it.
Forgot our waiters name but he was friendly and efficient. He timed our meal (apps, salad & entres) as we requested. Good value for the money.
The food was excellent; however, I made a reservation on Open Tables and discovered after the meal that the 100 points for the reservation I usually receive for using Open Tables was not eligible for that particular reservation with out any explanation. Very disappointing!
Old friends meeting
We experienced great service and our meals were delicious! My fish was outstanding!! Loved the roasted vegetables too!
This is my restaurant of choice for any occasion to celebrate. There are few dishes I enjoy more - at any restaurant - than L Woods' beef ribs. They are delicious and plentiful. They are especially tasty while enjoying one of L Woods' bloody Marys, I might add. The creamed spinach is divine, and it's hard to refuse the warm bread, even on a keto diet. Really, there is nothing I have had on the menu that I haven't enjoy immensely, and everyone is warm and lovely. It feels like family.
l woods tap is a pretty decent place to go once in a while.
good menu and most of the items are above average.
always easy and enjoyable.
while not perfect , everything considered , would definitely recommend.
L Woods’ holiday celebration accommodated those observing the holiday and those eating off the regular menu. Great service, ambience and food make it a spot to which we enjoy returning. Thanks L Woods!
Great food & service for almost any occasion! Also celebrates ethic holidays with appropriate food for the occasion!
Our server was very kind. When I mentioned it was my daughter's birthday, she brought her dessert.
One of our all time fave spots! Even my little picky eater (13months) chowed down! This gal isn't a big eater. We had a great dinner!
Great service, excellent food with a casual Wisconsin supper club vibe.
The Buffalo Cauliflower is outstanding. In fact, the three of us loved it so much, we ordered a second helping. And the Chopped Salad never disappoints.
L. Woods never disappoints! They sat us in a cozy booth for our anniversary. We ordered the Mahogany Roasted Chicken, Creamed Spinach and BBQ Ribs and all was excellent. Their Wisconsin Old Fashioned beverage is the best cocktail I have ever had.
We dined at L. Woods and had a great experience. Not that we weren’t expecting much on our first visit, but it blew us away. It was the third day of my Labor Day birthday weekend and we were looking to go somewhere Lettuce, but more conservatively priced.
Our server, Michelle, was literally amazing, even before she knew it was my birthday! She explained everything about the restaurant, menu, and specials so thoroughly and was super attentive throughout the meal despite having many huge tables compared to our party of two. We may as well have been her only table considering how incredible she was.
Now for the food. We ordered the cheese curds, Creekstone beef ribs, chicken a la sima, and the country ribs. Our sides were the green beans almondine, corn pudding and garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly. The beef ribs fell off the bone, the chicken was pounded thin yet still so juicy, and the country pork ribs, though not my personal favorite dish, were tender and delicious. The corn pudding and garlic mashed were amazing, green beans were steamed but still crunchy which I love.
For dessert we had the house made banana cream pie which was to die. Made with a nutter butter crust, you need to get this.
All in all, we live on the south side and can’t wait to drive up north to visit L. Woods again. Worth a visit for a delicious, casual yet still special meal.
Food was excellent, as always. The ambiance is great here, also some pretty ace people-watching. Unusually, the service was terrible; had to ask for silverware, and again for steak knives, long waits for ordering or food or drinks, etc. - we did receive what we'd ordered. I've been to L. Woods many times, always had good service before this.
We came out for my husband’s birthday. I had made reservations and we didn’t get our table until almost 15 minutes after our reservation. Once seated, the waitress was very busy and we didn’t get drinks delivered until almost 30 minutes after arrival. She made an error on my husband’s order, but quickly rectified that and even covered his meal because of the error. We have eaten here many times in the past and have never had any of these issues. The food and beverages were excellent though as always. We will be back, but hoped that his birthday dinner would have gone a little more smoothly.
L Wood is our go-to place for family occasions. This was our anniversary which fell on Labor Day this year. We both had ribs; excellent. Service friendly, but a little slow.
Best Stillman Peach Tea Kentucky Mule ever! Food and service was very good. We always enjoy our dinner at L. Woods.
We visit L. Woods about once a month. Sometimes more. My favorite is the "Beef Ribs." They are the best!
Great food and service. We'll return soon!
Consistently good food, great selection and busy on days when other restaurants are empty. Try the almond crusted walleye dinner and the deviled egg appetizers.
They never disappoint. Be sure to make reservations. Walk-ins had a 45 minutes wait but we were seated immediately upon arrival.
As always the food and service were great! There was a great after Cubs game crowd but our service was great and we had a wonderful time!
We always have great service here, but EDGAR was the best waitstaff person ever! SO patient with our group of ladies who lunch at Book Club! The food was great as usual, and the birthday dessert was lovely!
We eat here often and tonight felt the food had some problems: Onion soup was great, BBQ CHICKEN AND RIBS
not up to their standards. Ribs were not crispy and fresh and chicken was very dry. Fries came cold and when they replaced them they were “loaded” with grease. I will try the restaurant one more time in the hopes that they pick up the quality.
Took family from out of the country to this restaurant and everyone loved it!
Food is always consistent and delicious! We love the bbq planked salmon. The rocky road cake for dessert is enough for 4 to share and yummy. Great root beer on tap. We will return again and again.
We were a party of 6. The food we ordered was just okay. Our server was very busy and not very attentive. They didn't serve our entree's together and forgot a couple of our side orders. One of the speciality drinks was served in a broken glass with glass chips in the drink. We returned the drink and our server did not charge for the second drink.
This was my first time visiting. I was here from Florida and it happened to be my birthday. Caleb ( sp) was one of the funniest and best servers I had in many years. A fine combination of good food..great service will have me visit the next time I'm in Chicago.
Not the way it used to be
2 people had chicken very dry brisket sandwich not good
Chicken sandwich ok beef ribs very fatty all in all not so good
We took some people who were here from out of town. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent.
Sun 8/25 12:30pm reservation. Seated immediately before the rush, friendly staff. Great go to place. Foods always good, excellent service. Our waitress "Samantha" was most attentive, outstanding personality. Fun dining experience.
As always, we had great service from Diana and the food was spot on with two exceptions: my Uncle’s burger wasn’t cooked as ordered and it took 20 minutes to get it redone. In my opinion, the manager should have comped his meal. Lastly, as long time patrons of the restaurant it was my 50th birthday and you would have thought they’d bring something other than a scoop of wiped cream with an awful frozen brownie.
Nevertheless, everything else was terrific and we’ll be back for sure!
The service and meal was outstanding. Our waiter surprised us with desert to celebrate our anniversary.
This was my second time there with a new group. My girlfriend and I like to order different dishes to share and the staff was able to seperate the two dishes into four plates for us which was really nice.
The Saturday special was cooked to medium perfection.....tender and juicy. The Walleye was equally good.
My best friend and his wife had the bowl of soup whom they could share with their toddler (the restaraunt had the highchair as requested in our notes) and NY strip steaks to topoff with cheesecake. Wonderful experience.
Thank you L. Woods!!!!
