La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.
Outstanding and every dish was perfect. I love the veal chop that Antonio cooked for me. It was true perfection. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience fine dining at its best.
My family enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at La Grotta in Buckhead recently while visiting our son who moved to Atlanta for his new job.
The cuisine was superb from the appetizer through dessert, and we appreciated our waiter who guided us through the menu and specials of the day.
The highlight of our meal was meeting the owner / executive chef, who came to our table to introduce himself and chat with us about our dinner.
Based upon our incredible experience, we will make every effort to visit La Grotta when we return to Atlanta!
Delicious. Professionally served. Highest quality in everyway.
We have been living in and out of New York for the past few years and have tried the best and most authentic Italian it has to offer. That being said, La Grotta may be better than any of them! I simply can not say enough about the service, how we were treated from the moment we walked in until three hours later when we left. Billy our server was so fantastic, the lighting and atmosphere was perfect and the food was, as I mentioned before, possibly the best Italian we have ever had anywhere. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon! Please don’t ever change one single thing!
Best Italian rest in Atlanta. Great, great wine list and top of class service
As usual, La Grotta was outstanding with great food, ambiance, and cordial service.
Very nice experience- just not expecting 25 preteens in LaGrotta! In 30 years we have not experienced this sort of thing!
We will return, but will inquire if there are any big parties of young people expected.
La Grotta as that "old-School" feel from the atmosphere, wait staff and food. I would rate the food as Very Good to Excellent. Burrata was creamy, Caesar was properly dressed and the Dover Sole was excellent. The Only slip was the lamb was overdone....which we slip as an app. Value was great when you consider the quality of the wine selection under 125.00.
La Grotta is our favorite restuarant ever! Their ambience can't be beat and every dish is consistently prepared and always delicious. No other restaurant can compare to La Grotta with their experienced waiters and their old world feel!!
recommend trying this restaurant in a residential buidling at the bottom floor - wine a reasonably priced
Snobby waiters. Overpriced decent food. Will not be returning.
Billy was amazing. The food was succulent! The Honey Fig was 2 D.I.E. 4⚡⚡⚡
Delicious as always!
This is a classic Italian. Long time waiters. Not terribly imaginative but that is not necessary when the food, service and wine are very stae
We spent a great evening at La Grotta recently. The entire experience, from the front desk, to the servers and manager was outstanding. The food was really excellent as well. Although we have always enjoyed dining at La Grotta, the level of service and food quality has been greatly enhanced. I would definitely recommend a visit there, whether for a special occasion or just a nice dinner out.
Hands down my favorite restaurant! Authentic Italian cuisine and you will never want to eat at a chain Italian restaurant again! The service and staff are top notch and they always make us feel so welcomed like family. Seriously, this place will spoil you. The sachecciti with shaved black truffles over the top is out of this world!!
Excellent old ATLANTA experience. Quality and consistent food!
This is a classic Italian restaurant one of the greatest dining experiences in Atlanta or anywhere else. Our recent meal was no exception. My wife and I both chose the braised rabbit which was special for the evening I added a side of pasta carbonara. The waiter suggested it wonderful complimentary wine, a le serre that we enjoyed very much. We were all a little late for early evening reservation due to the predictable Atlanta Friday afternoon traffic and the staff was kind enough to hold our table. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
As usual wonderful food and total dining experience!
WONDERFUL! This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions. When my sister visits from Florida it’s her one requested place for dinner. The food is excellent and the atmosphere ideal. The service is impeccable.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and it was our first visit to La Grotta. The food was amazing, the drinks were great, and the service (Tex was our server) was top notch. We had a truffle risotto that was on special and it was off the rails good. My wife had lamb chops, I had veal on special, both fantastic. Even the cappuccinos were the best we have ever had. Not cheap and in my opinion not for small kids - but for special occasions - it is the best. Plan ahead and make reservations.
Great service and food. We will be back!
Everything was delightful. And the waiters were so friendly and attentive.
La Grotta was wonderful. Staff were friendly and cared about what we were celebrating. Very helpful with the menu.
The food and service were OUTSTANDING! We requested a booth and received what we asked for. We had the Mussels app, the “Berger’s purses, Dover sole fish, and ricotta lemon zest cheesecake. We will be returning! The management and chef came to our table to make it an even more pleasant experience.
I am mortified!
First of all my mother gave us a $200 gift certificate to celebrate and we went to this restaurant. Ordered champs, steak and lamb.
The servers were bossy. Wouldn’t let us have our champs table side or even our Pellegrino.
Not once did they ask if the food was good. My filet- both of us agreed tasted gamely- and my date ordered the lamb. I ate one bite of the filet, he ate one and then that was it.
I would never recommend this restaurant based on the food alone. As I left my gift card and credit card on the table my date overheard the waiter ask the manager to take $200 off the bill and said and I quote “this is gonna fTEMP_OC_CONTENT_HEREamp;$ up my night.”
Other side notes are that the bartender was cursing profusely and some waiter who may have been the bread guy kept referring to our 1 year old as his unemployment insurance... which I never understood. He has a name.
However after we finished dinner and went to the elevator the waiter came out and asked for a larger tip, saying that I didn’t tip according to the entire ticket.
I am a small business owner myself so I hate leaving bad reviews but I can’t imagine why these staff felt so entitled.
Impeccable service. I recommend the calamari as an appetizer and the veal chop with black truffles as an entree. The tiramisu and crime brûlée are as good as I have ever had.
The experience was wonderful from start to finish. From the service to the food, and rose to my wonderful lady upon departure,m. Thank you for the wonderful time.
This is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta and it didn’t disappoint this time. My husband and I went to celebrate Valentine’s (the day after) and everything was wonderful. I got the risotto - delicious! As always the service was superior which is the main reason we keep going back.
Great food, great wine, great experience! We’ve never had a bad meal or bad service. Best place for a celebration!
Amazing experience. As someone who’s visited and lived in Italy this was the closest thing I’ve had to a true Italian experience. Will be back again when visiting Georgia.
Valentine’s Day, packed house but everything done right!
We have liked La Grotta over the years for special occasions and expected the usual top-rate experience for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately the entree we both chose, the chicken picatta, was a disappointment, both in flavor and preparation. The combination of ingredients and undercooked chicken breast was for us, inedible. Everything else was fine, and we were attended to royally with concern for our dissatisfaction, ultimately receiving an adjustment on the bill. We consider this an anomaly on their part
and will surely return at another time on another special occasion.
Food Was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations for us. The food is extremely well prepared, pricey, but worth it.
This place is truly a dining experience!
I have been going to La Grotta for over thirty years for many special occasions and business dinners. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the country.
Always the best food!
A wonderful restaurant that has been at the top of their game for many years! Our server (Billy) was amazing and the food outstanding! I've eaten at this restaurant multiple times over the years and it has always been excellent. I highly recommend it!
Fabulous, best evening ever
Waiter. Was amazing funny attentive just a great dining experience
