I just think food used to be much better.
We have dinner every year at La Tour during our annual ski vacations to Vail. In our opinion, it is the best restaurant in Vail. The food is always superb (including an amazing Dover soul entree--you don't expect to get fish this fresh and well-prepared in the middle of Colorado!).
Once again Chef Paul, Chef Sammie, and Chef Nathan hit it out of the park. Great food, ambiance, and service. La Tour is truly living up to the Vail standard. Impressive wine list with the best sommelier in the valley. Overall an impressive and delicious experience.
LaTour is great but this time around not so for us. At 8:30 reservation, table not available. Dover sole was very good but they forgot the haricots vert!!! Not what you expect from a top restaurant.
We’ve eaten in 3 Star Michelin places all over the world, and this is one of our very favorite restaurants. Stellar service, food, cocktails and wine list.
Everything was so delicious! My 7 year old finished her plate which is unheard of and the trio dessert is soooooo good. Thanks!
We have been to La Tour many times and always had a great night. Unfortunately our recent visit could well be our last unless their policies change. We had a booking at 8.15pm. When we arrived it was chaotic in the entrance. Multiple groups of people hanging around waiting for their table. Turns out they don’t inform their earlier sittings that they need to clear the table by a certain time (like all the other top restaurants do). As a result we waited over an hour for our 8.15pm booking. We weren’t even offered a drink/ seat at the bar whilst we waited. Just had to stand in the doorway. Unless they change their policy they need to warn 2nd sitting diners that their booking is ‘tentative’ and wait times are unknown. Apparently this is the owners choice. The staff were understandably stressed. Unacceptable.
La Tour is usually my fave place in Vail. This year the food was not good. My daughter had a kids pasta that was inedible. Very disappointing.
Food is a little underwhelming for the price which is much too expensive. Our server was lovely as was the staff. Nice place just poor value from a foodie perspective. BTW they will pressure you to check your coat, but don’t do it unless you want it to smell like a smokey barbecue. The closet must be right next their grill.
New Years Eve 5 course dinner was fantastic! Amazing food, lovely presentations! Cheers!
Food is good but nothing g to write home about. Waiters are too busy and confused. 1:15 wait between courses. Way too overpriced for what it is.
We went 8.30p on Dec 29. Got seated 30min late, didnt get assigned a waiter, got horrible service. Clearly overbooked and short staffed...beware going during xmas week
Trying to serve too many; wait staff and kitchen couldn't keep up. Food was flavorful but everything was served cold because of the over sitting. I don't suggest you go to La Tour on a Friday or Sat.
After years of excellent service and food at La Tour, my service last night was, frankly, subpar. After hyping up the restaurant to my friend, new to Vail, and even claiming it as “my favorite,” our waiter rarely visited our table nor were we checked in on at all. Very upsetting.
We started with a drink at the bar. Great cocktails and bartender! When seated, our table was adjacent to the fireplace which could not be ignited lest the seating be uncomfortably hot. We sat to eat around 8:15 and the special of the day (bison steak) was gone, but there were many other tasty options. We were offered bread for $6. Considering the menu pricing (and ala carte), it seemed petty to charge for bread, but I understand the bread to be a specialty item at this restaurant. The food was very good. The portions were small but tasty. This restaurant was too stuffy for our midwest family and the pricing was high considering the portions and everything being priced separately. This restaurant is best for foodies that want a quiet atmosphere.
The Dover sole is excellent. However the black cod and the seafood paella were both not very good. We were highly disappointed as La Tour used to be a favorite place. Also the charge for bread and the surcharge for service were annoying. Just raise your prices if you need to but don’t add little charges.
Waiter constantly tried to upsell. Kitchen didn’t get order right and left in nuts. Food not as good as past, was just mediocre
The whole experience was wonderful!! All of the staff were so warm and welcoming. It truly felt like home
Our family of four had a memorable and delicious 2018 Christmas Dinner with their famous bread basket, two Black Cod and two Chicken entrees. The service was fantastic. Since our reservations were late we closed the restaurant down!. All of us highly recommend La Tour.
Nice presentation but quality was not what was expected compared to other high end restaurants. Very crowded space for Christmas where servers were bumping into customers chairs to walk by.
Always love the food and service here. Booked for Christmas and even with full dining room the good and service were outstanding. This is our favorite restaurant in Vail.
Excellent, went Christmas. Get the foi gras and lamb chops, won’t be disappointed.
Really nice Christmas dinner... especially the lobster toast appetizer- light and fresh, and the truffle cod- great depth of flavor! Only odd note... really bland asparagus-almost like they boiled it!?!
Christmas Eve dinner. Not very festive. No holiday decorations. Food was ok but not great. Service excellent.
Busy and crowded as would be expected for Christmas Eve. We were a trio of a kid, vegetarian and confirmed carnivore..all left happy.
The carnivore said it was one of the best meals he has ever eaten.
We have dined at La Tour many times and are never disappointed! The food and cocktails are over the top with the freshest ingredients and unique flare.
I recommend La Tour wholeheartedly
I was seated in a quiet part of the restaurant as I was a single party, but I was not treated unfairly at all, even for being on Christmas Eve! I was recommend an excellent pairing wine, because I’m inexperienced on that part, and the food was so good! I savored the whole experience. Excellent wait staff, they were amazing.
Food was overall unimpressive. Shrimp was “soggy” and the sole was mediocre. Many more options in Vail with better food for the price. The only standout part of the meal was our secondary server who started filling in once our first server seemed to be distracted by too many other tables.
Good food, service was ok.
Our party of four enjoyed the food and shared bits of each other’s plates. The ambiance is conducive to conversation and service was spot on.
The wait staff are extremely professional, takes you through a journey of courses.
The wine list is truly impeccable. It is the true french restaurant experience we were there for just over 2 hours. The kitchen dessert is a must!.
The service was amazing. Santos, Patrick, and Sammy all did an amazing job making my wife and I feel welcomed and enjoying her birthday. Wonderful experience!
Is latour vail’s best restaurant? Hard to argue with the creative balanced composed dishes coupled with a phenomenal wine program. The space is comfy and inviting as well. Kudos!
We LOVED La Tour! Amazing food, service, and wonderful ambiance. Don't miss the raclette and the Lobster Bisque!!
Delicious food. Low key but classy atmosphere. Favorite meal my family and I ate in Vail. The French onion soup especially was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Excellent service and delicious food! Great specials too!
Love it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful meal and ambience. General manager went out of his way to make it a special evening ... from a table in the corner to dimming the lights ... to bringing comp glasses of champagne to the table. High school sweethearts reunited 40 years later. A great meal and service ... a perfect dinner for this special occasion.
