Restaurants near Artists of Merrywoods

As always, Tuskie's was superb, this time for Mother's Day. I had the fried green tomatoes as first course, then the Creole Trout, then Pecan Pie, all great. My wife did the crab soup, the shrimp and grits (lots of shrimp!). Again, superb. But I think even better was the service--classy, formal, attentive, and efficient. I felt we were eating in a Michelin-starred restaurant, in homey Leesburg.

I’ve been a fan of the Voltaggio brothers since their days on Top Chef. Have visited their east coast restaurants and can honestly say that Wye & Oak is really outstanding. We stayed at the Visitation Hotel (highly recommend) so our walk to the restaurant was easy. The restaurant is in a converted Catholic Church which is evident when you look at the bar. Truly beautiful. Service was amazing - very attentive and I personally like the multi-staff service model. When the food is ready, someone brings it out quickly. We enjoyed soft shell crab appetizer (seasonal), Caesar salad and steak with mashed potatoes. All were exceptional. You’ve probably tried Caesar salad before but nothing like this - the romaine was wrapped in diakon with a Parmesan churro on top. The dressing had a hint of tahini- which is so unusual for Caesar dressing. Probably the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had. My steak was cooked to perfection and you got your choice of sauces - go with the brown butter bearnaise! Meat dishes were served with the fluffiest cheese popover - so airy, light and delicious. We drove an hour to get here and will return!

I visited Martinsburg as part of my 50 state tour. I drove around town to sight see and I wanted to grab a quick light lunch. The Sycamore stood out in my Open Table App. I was very pleased with the service and the food. I had the fried COD BLT and fried okra. It was delicious! I was seated by the window with a view of the greens which made it even better. The staff was quite friendly and made me feel welcome. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!
