- AAndrewLos Angeles •2 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoI’ve been coming here long enough to watch them refine the menu season to season, and it keeps getting better. Yakiya is a proper tasting menu experience. Don’t let the tabletop grill fool you into thinking this is yakiniku or Korean BBQ, it’s not. The format is chef-driven prix fixe, every course chosen for you, paced deliberately, and executed with intention. The A5 wagyu is the throughline but it shows up in ways you don’t expect. Raw preparations, delicate bites, then the grilled courses where you’re actually cooking it yourself at the table. That progression is what separates it from anything else in the area. The room matches the food. Warm woods, brass, leather, smoke-free vents built into the tables. It feels elevated without being stiff. The staff knows the menu cold and can walk you through every course without making it feel like a rehearsed script. I’ve brought clients here, brought family here, celebrated things here. It works for all of it. Pasadena doesn’t have a ton of spots that can pull that off at this level. This is one of them. Make a reservation. Go hungry. Let the kitchen do its thing.More infoYakiya - Pasadena$$$$• Japanese• Pasadena•4.7
